'Tit lives!!
Quick 25 miles at lunchtime. Oh so good to be out again. Son's birthday this weekend so didn't have time to enjoy the decent weekend weather but this'll do!

Yes, it was a foul day. Good to be out tho, until the dash warning light came up. By the time I got to the bike shop, the tyre was down to 12psi. Funnily enough, it was booked in for 2 new tyres tomorrow. Somebody was smiling down on me.

Between bike and car I've had 3 punctures in a year. When I got my bike out Sunday to put the battery back in etc I found a 5 inch nail about 2ft from my garage and an old drill bit in front of my neighbours garage pisses me right off people leave this stuff aboutWossname wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 5:40 pm A0E9B443-7503-4800-9C6A-0D433AF4A8ED.jpeg

Last day of the holidays so a quick run up to Binevenagh on the GS....
I see some tit has put a sign up trying to ban bikes. Not in the slightest bit official.
And now lying in the schuck......

Took my mate to Global moto Coventry to pick up his tuono 1000 and what an absolute belter it is. Very Very clean 8k miles and a great colour. 06 reg.
Never been before but it is a cracking dealership. Nice clean bikes, good choice, plenty of room to have a good poke around . Nice cafe and toilets, but it was a shit ride from Shrewsbury, motorways with continues road works with 50 limits everywhere and just too many vehicles on them. God knows what it will be like in another 20 years.
Few pic's..
First the tuono and a few others included the MV 800rr with its foot handbrake that I've never seen before.

First ride of the year to Devils Bridge,I took my mate on his Hyabusa along,he'd never ridden through the Trough of Bowland.
Happy to say he enjoyed it despite the loose gravel, debris from farm vehicles & pot holes everywhere...
It was sunny but there's definitely a chill in the air, glad I was wearing my Winter gloves!

What's the fastest you've been on your commute this week, mister?
In other news, matey who bought your model of bike had his oil pump changed at the first service, due to a leak. Must be a new beemer thang..oil and filter and oil pump, just to be sure.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I’m sure there is a recall for the water/oil pump built between certain dates, mine is outwith these dates but I had a look anyway. You start to see oil at the weep hole if it is leaking. I’m guessing his is the 2019-2022 model and not the 2023 bike that’s just came out. They still refer to the 2023 bike a the K67.
Roads are too busy, it’s still dark in the morning and cold so can’t have fun on the way there which is usually when I can as it’s quiet, but coming home is a pain in the fart box.

The bike is a brand new 2023 model,so maybe just fat fingers on the assembly line.wull wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2023 6:18 pm I’m sure there is a recall for the water/oil pump built between certain dates, mine is outwith these dates but I had a look anyway. Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Recall probably covers the 2023 bike as well but I struggle at times to find the information, there’s so much conflicting information especially with regards to build dates that are affected. I keep seeing something and thinking ffs but so far it always turns out mine is either built before or after bikes that are affected by the recall.

I've just been out for a spin on the Street Triple,I was reading online that you can lose up to 20mm of seat height by slackening off all the linkage & shock bolts, then retightening them with the weight of the bike loading the suspension.Fron what I've read Triumph build the bikes up with the bike suspended.I should have been a bit more scientific, but I reckon the seat height's dropped by approx 8mm.
Nice evening for a gentle spin

That's a bit alarming about the seat height dropping. Surely all the bolts should be snug fits in the links?

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
It came as a surprise to me.Not being an engineer all I can think is that with the bike being suspended all the weight pulls the various components to their maximum tolerance in one direction, resulting in a maximum seat height & by slackening the bolts & compressing the suspension before tightening the bolts up again you reach their maximum tolerance in the opposite direction resulting in a lower seat height. The bike definitely feels like it's sitting a few mm lower.According to my tape it's sitting 6-8 mm lower, but that's just me measuring it.Ideally you would hold it in some kind of jig & measure with a ruler or laser.I've already taken all the preload out of the rear shock. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 9:34 pm That's a bit alarming about the seat height dropping. Here's what it said in the link I found
Common modifications: lowering your Triumph Street Triple 675
Lowering kits are popular but according to specialist Clive Wood, they’re not the way to go: "I see a lot of bikes and people have bought a kit from eBay, lowered it 40mm and ruined the handling. You don’t need to change the dog bones, it’s easy to lower the bike enough for most people. With the wheels on the floor, loosen all the bolts in the rear suspension linkages. There’ll be a ‘clunk’ as all the joints settle. Then take a couple of rings of preload off the rear spring. That’ll lower the rear by about 25mm. Now move the forks up through the yokes by about 15mm to restore the balance." And it’s free!
Mine never made a 'Clunk'.
