Something I didnt like about the bike, or at least niggled me a bit, was the throttle play. Turns out its a thing with fly-by-wire throttles on Ducatis, Triumphs KTMs etc and is easily cured by simple throttle spacers.

Apparently electrical shrink wrap works just as well

Probably comes under "tolerance"? For those that notice things like this, it's supposed to make quite a difference. I'm intrigued to see if that split second lag is really that noticeable when cured?

Put the paddock stand together. The spindle runs in bearings, so presumably I can sit on the bike and bounce it off the limiter through the gears!

Awake at 4 in the morning. The wife and I are on our phones shopping. She is jying a handbag. I’m buying a evotech rad and engine guard!

I ended up buying one from a guy on the hyper forum. He fitted it and then wrote his bike off on his first ride out with it. The guard set was undamaged an he let it go for a £100 inc P&P! Turned out it was for the later 950 with a curved rad, so it doesn't fit. That'll teach me to rush in and not read the ad properly!

I had an epic ride home tonight. Should have been home in under an hour but was out for an hour and forty! Bike scared the bejesus out of me though! Hit any sort of bump or crest with the tiniest bit of encouragement and it will see the front wheel coming up and coming up quick too! I didn't need the electrics to control it as I bottled it before it even had a chance to kick in!

The bike sounds beautiful at full chat and feels very quick, too quick for me probably, but of course, that's easily self controlled, well when i say easily...

The fuel adjuster has really done a great job. The bike really is much better around town, but the MPG has dropped and it was thirsty enough anyway! Money well spent though!

I was asked today how it compared to my mt-09, which is a good question. If it hadn't been for the cramped riding position, i'd still have the MT for sure. A really amazing bike for me and certainly in my top 5 bikes I've owned. I cant say either is better than the other to be honest. I guess they have very similar power, but I think the Duc is more grunty? Neither bike was the sp version and I overpower the suspension, but I don't push a bike anyway. I do feel the Duc has much worse fork dive though. Looks wise, I did love the MT but the Duc has completely stole me. So if I had both of them I think i'd probably ride the Duc more...

Even setting the sag for your weight will improve the ride. It's all adjustable for a reason.

Pretty hard to on my commute, but finding long ways home to do so, tells me how much I like the bike!
Yes, there are some electrics to kick in and they probably would have done, but I shut the throttle straight off as it started coming up as I was shocked at how much it meant it and the ease at which it lifted! You can adjust the setting, so I'll maybe have a check whats on what.

Surprisingly, there is no fork adjustment at all?! Rear shock is adjustable in te normal ways but I've not bothered doing anything. I'll look into it though and I might even get the forks resprung at some point as its very softly sprung. Rides lovely over speed bumps and pot holes though...

Nope. Nothing at all. I was kinda surprised by that too!

The death knell was nearly sounded for an unexpected reason - tank range!! I don't ever want to fill up every ride, but the low fuel light comes on around 100 miles and I have another 20 miles before I get home. So I end up stopping early at a garage on the way home and riding it cautiously to make sure I make it to the garage, which kida kills owning bike like this!

Looking at things though and it didn't add up. So I checked and whilst the fuel light had been on for a nervous 17 miles, the bike only took 12.45 litres and its a 16 litre tank. So I should be able to make my commute as normal! Phew!

Strap a can of petrol to the seat, ride it till the tank runs dry. Then you'll know just how much you can push the range on the light before refilling from the can.

16 litres is about 3.5 gallons and even if its doing (a possible) 40mpg that's a 140 mile tank range. I need around 120/130,so I should be good!

I'm not, my Suzuki has 10mm of preload adjustment on the forks, I can't feel any difference between fully in and fully out, for reference my 35 year old FZ750 has 40mm of preload adjustment, you can feel the difference, but it isn't a big difference.

My SV650S has fork preload & if I ride it down a really bumpy road I can feel the difference between fully preloaded & the preload backed off.
Correct me if I'm wrong,but does'nt the air gap make a difference,especially if there's no preload adjustment?

Modern bike range notifications seem to be incredibly pessimistic to me. I think they're programmed that way to stop people complaining when they eventually do run dry!

Have a look at the top of the right fork leg for something like this small black nut as its the preload adjuster on the Multi so the Hyper might have the same ....but no mention of it in the manual, just the electronics adjustment method



It comes from the factory about 1 turn from max low setting so effectively set for a 15kg rider .....wind all the way left to the stop which is zero then add one full turn per 15kg of rider weight. Most find it best if you do the full turns for weight then wind it back half a turn. It made a huge difference to both my Multi's as they no longer dive when heavy on the brakes like a Uboat on a full ALARM!!!! call
