Recommend me an all rounder lightweight latop
I Need to buy a laptop and as today is the last day of my company's financial year, I need to do it today
I'm being told Intel i5 or i7 is the way to go but it will only get normal office type use plus maybe some mucking around with scanned image files. No gaming. I've no idea what the latest AMD equivalents are either.
I usually go HP or Lenovo and have never had a problem with either.
So what do you receommend?
Thanks in advance x

Re: Recommend me an all rounder lightweight latop
I bought a Carbon X something 13" from Tier1 a year or two back.
It's light, that was main consideration, I tend to carry it when on the big island. Runs Linux Mint fine. I don't game so can't comment on that, nor do I watch films on it.

Latest generation Ryzen 7 (4700u or 4800u) will knock the i7 in to the weeds, be cheaper too.
Best laptop money can buy at the moment is the Dell XPS13, but the better spec ones are very pricey.

I've been looking at the Dell 14 5000 series, they do the Inspiron (Home) and Latitude (Work), but they're basically the same device.
I'm tempted to buy one for myself.

Last weekend Lenovo had £300 off this, I should have bought it there and then.

What ever you decide on, make sure you've got Honey installed, it'll find vouchers for all the major buying sites.

Thanks KFB
ordered a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15IIL05 (81YK0050UK) 15.6" (Intel Core i5-1035G1 Processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Full HD (1920 x 1080) Display, Windows 10 S).
Its for Mrs GP for biz use, I got it for under £600 inc VAT (which I get back...)
I'll continue using my Lenovo "all in one" Ideacentre desk top and my Surface Pro laptop plus whatever the client of the day insists I use to get into their domain.
