Never! It just got out of bed on the wrong side that morning.... Next up is the drive oil and greasing the splines. I'll put some time aside for that in the winter. I'm not paying for something I am perfectly capable of doing myself.Rockburner wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 10:46 amEvil Eye!the_priest wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 7:16 am I think it is jaundiced.... late night riding is now a boon! Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
Bought a BoosterPlug for the beast. Supposed to smooth out the slightly rough low down running and evens out power over the full range. Looks to be simple enough to fit, but now it is a case of finding the time to actually do this! Next week is full and the one after as well. Days off are going to be spent driving down to Portsmouth as wife wants to see son settled in Uni.

Does this have motronic Fi? If so it will eventually calibrate back to its ECU base settings and negate the booster plug. Its why I ditched my booster plug and had the ECU reflashed on the F8R.the_priest wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 6:26 am Bought a BoosterPlug for the beast. This - I know it happens on the old R1150s, but not sure if it happens on the newer Ks (and newer R1200-s).Taipan wrote: ↑Mon Sep 28, 2020 2:08 pmDoes this have motronic Fi? On the R1150s there's a guy in Greece punting out re-mapped chips who is getting a lot of very good feedback.

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
For £40 I can certainly give it a try and see if it helps. I'm quite smooth on the throttle once I've got used to the bike and so it is no a big issue to be honest, but for that little money, it gives me something to do on a Satuday morning quietly in the garage with the heater on and a mug of coffee while I hide from the wife and her gardening adventures.

IIRC, the very early K12S and Rs had really bad fuelling, I think the late Kevin Ash absolutely savaged them, My 08 doesn't seem to have any problems and goes like a rocket from about 3000 revs.
Apparently they run very lean from the factory, not sure if the cat is in the original can, but I've noticed that after I've ridden home, and I look down the exhaust hole, everything is glowing cherry red....
The race can didn't seem to get anywhere near as hot, half an hour after I park the bike on a rainy day, the rain still boils off when it hits the can......
Where did you get the plug for £40.....

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
Bought a genuine BoosterPlug product via Ebay. They bought it and sold bike before fitting it. I'm tempted to get a lighter smaller exhaust as well, the one on there is massive! It also stays hot for a very very long time after I've turned it off... Not seen the glowing bit, but then I tend not to stare down exhausts! Now I'm going to have a look next time I've been out for a quick ride.

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
Bonkers bike weirdly attractive in a quirky way nice one. You may become an unintentional sinner in relation to the highway code though. In relation to the chip referred to earlier I put one in my R1100RS certainly made a difference in the fuelling much smoother. Dont think the K's have Motronic though too old hat . Could be wrong though

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
I had a 350mm Delkevic on mine that was quiet with the Db killer in and loudish with it out.
Then for reasons that escape me, I bought the 200 mm version. Stupidly loud and snapping off the throttle makes a noise akin to a gun battle in 1970s Divis.....
I put the standard can back on as I like not to wake the entire village going to work.

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
I am looking at a BlueFlame single port exhaust, with baffle. The simple stainless version. Should be a little louder, but a lot lighter and shorter. Not a stubby one. I have to accept that I have an example to set and as maccecht says, it is all to easy to sin unintetionally, or worse yet, very deliberately!

I've gone for the base Delkevic exhaust. Inexpensive, but looks decent. I'll have it by the end of this week hopefully!

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
Nothing wrong with Delkevic, they may not be the world's fanciest exhaust, but at the end of the day any end can costing 500 is extracting the urine.
Just make sure you have help to lift that huge OE can off!

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
Just about needed a crane! it is very heavy and bulky. I put the new one on. Very easy to do and line up nicely. I think it looks better. The baffle is staying in!! Talk about loud! I'm hard of hearing and it was too loud for me baffle out. Nice deep sound with it in. Revs up very quickly too. BoosterPlug will happen when I have time.... still waiting for the delivery.

Re: New Bike - The ICBM K1200R
BoosterPlug fitted. Took me around a hour of faffing around and taking my time to get things nicely in place.
Does it work? I think so, at least for the first 5 minutes of the ride anyhow. The new exhaust sounds great, with lovely burble and a rather mad howl at the higher revs range. I'm liking this rather much. It is smooth on the power and goes rapid very rapidly. And now to the dentist to get two broken teeth sorted (not bike related, just poor fillings).
