Which one?
Slightly pie in the sky question as no idea if I can get a bike this year, but -
Which one and why?
MT-10 or Z1000 ??
I have loved the Z1000 for years but never sat on one, fell in love with the MT-10 last summer but again, haven't sat on one - so even if money magically falls at me, I don't know if I can actually ride either!! LOL
But, what would you do?

Re: Which one?
Well duh.
That's the earlier Z1000R,you need one like mine with kool kidz kans.
The Yam has moar horses than the Kawa,so has the top end advantage, which in all honesty,on a naked bike is little more than bragging rights.
The Zed R has decent suspension, you need to go for the SP model of MT for anything trick.
The Zed will be a little better with mpg,if it matters.
The MT has all the usual rider aids, the Zed has ABS and nothing else.
The Yamaha is a more modern bike than the Kawasaki and the MT is now considered long in the tooth in it's class. The Kawa doesn't even get tested any longer, since it's no longer available to buy new.
As far as tooshing about is concerned,it's a case of which you fancy.

The Z900 in limited edition Firecracker Red
But the Suzuki GSXS range is better looking than the Kawasaki and Yamaha offerings and better value

Either so long as they don't have a brown seat.

Re: Which one?
Yamahas of late tend to have quite high saddles, the new stuff is better, but the last few mt/xsr were 30"+ on the inseam, and you ain't!

Re: Which one?
I've ridden 2 MT10s and honestly the first one was absolutely astounding. Just an awesome machine.
The 2nd was not quite as awesome but I was riding @Tricky s bike he'd just recently bought, at Pembrey

Re: Which one?
Obviously, although I have proved in the past that any bike can be pink
That’s overkill - I just need it to have a metal tank for my magnetic mini tank/handbag
TBH, I had my heart set on the MT but your photos reminded me how much I have admired and wanted a big Z for Years n Years!!!Skub wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 11:30 am Well duh.

I do need to go and actually hear one!! I’ve only ridden the MT07 but that was pretty impressive! I know the engine is different in the 10. Someone told me it was an R1 engine??KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 11:34 am The Yam has a cross plane crank so sounds fickin' awesome when you open the taps.
I love thé look and two mates that have them bloody love them, so, being a bit of a brat and wanting a proper big bike again (and one that doesn’t hurt my shoulder with the vibrations!!) I am drawn to the 10!!
LOL. The Monster is the first bike I’ve ever had that I’ve been able to get both feet on the ground!! Not only on the ground, but feet flat and knees bent - it’s proper weird!!!
If the rising position ‘fits’ I’m not worried about seat height - well, as long as I can actually get on it, unlike SSD’s KTM I tried to sit on

Not the Z, it looks like someone has given a handlebar croggy to a large friend and they've slipped off knackering the headlight nacelle.

Re: Which one?
Manky?? How very dare you??!! Although a ‘maté did call my ZX10 the KawaSnotty
You’re saying that to the girl that had a very very PINK Blackbird
Your response to the first one is what I’ve heard from my friends with them. Really must go try one!!
MPG probably isn’t a massive issue - probably not fit to do massive miles this year and TBF, if i am, I’d rather put fuel in the bike that go for drinks or meals out!! I’ve missed biking so very much that I’ll be on cheap meals at home and buying lots of fuel!! (in all honesty, it’ll be the same with the Monster once I get the registration sorted, just won’t be able to ride that quite as often as an IL4!!!)

Re: Which one?
Having another look at the photos on a proper sized screen and I suspect the answer will be the riding position!! I reckon the bars on the Z1000 will be too low
But I will set up a test ride on the two in May, just cos, well, why not!! LOL
