Yes. It was easier too, but I didn't like it there.

Note to self: add Captain Bodgers aka Heath Robinson Snake to “the list” for crimes against engineering.

Does the "turn it up to 11" button really do anything?

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
From what I've read, so this isn't comprehensive, no! I'd guess its for bikes with modded airboxes etc? It seems between 4 nd 7 is the norm?
They are a strange bike for sure. People use Rapid Bike Evo/easy, UpMap T800 and many others to modify the fuelling, but then bung on a booster plug to fatten up the closed loop?? I haven't got to the bottom of it yet, but it seems there isn't much going on with o2 sensor elimination, which you'd expect with remaps?

TBF though, if it is just a variable resistor its probably quite tolerant to water anyway.
Worst case it completely shorts and it is like its not there. Or the bike catches fire

That's because it's had 15 previous owners who found it does fuck all and threw it down the street. Before thinking "hold on, I can sell it to some other mug"Tricky wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 2:41 pmLooks like he was playing football with it too before he fitted it!

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
The AFR controller isn't a total success, but it is a big improvement! Sitting at lower revs on slight throttle, where I typically am in central London, it will still be like a light switch in on/off transitions and if in sports mode, its very eager when you do feed the throttle in. I tried it in all modes and went through the town centre to catch some traffic, but incredibly traffic was light and I hit almost every light as it was green! The key, as moofo says, is to keep the revs up a bit. On a light and responsive bike like this is, you soon learn some throttle control if you do! I tried all modes and obviously the softer modes will help even more.
I had a quick buzz around on the bike and it is more lively than I originally thought and probably isn't slower than I remember the MT09? Not that makes any difference one way or another. The engine has beautiful sound when you take it through the gears! I look forward to mondays commute...

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
The only bikes I’ve ever ridden that like small throttle openings at low revs and speed have been IL4’s. Twins and singles really do struggle with this as I’m sure it’s an inherent design problem with that engine layout. I’d guess lower revving twins like the half a civic engine in some Hondas are also quite good as are cvt gearbox scooters. But any twin engine designed for performance is never gonna have the fuelling or setup to work at such low revs. So what you need is a big IL4

The Harley rocks at the city game, just lumps @ 1200rpm along without any snatchyness.
I dare say that's a product of it not being able to spin up 1900cc's quickly and pulling 300kgs + rider around, either way it's a damn site more behaved and comfortable than the only 1 other FI bike I've ridden.
C'mon tie you know it makes sense

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
Yup low revving engines will be great at low revs, the whole cam, cam timing etc doesn’t have to work at high revs so is optimised for the slower running. Asking a twin setup to run at 10k revs to also perform low down doesn’t work, until we have variable valve timing on these engines it isn’t going to.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 2:25 pmThe Harley rocks at the city game, just lumps @ 1200rpm along without any snatchyness.

It's an issue when there's no flywheel to maintain the engine's internal momentum.Couchy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 1:44 pm The only bikes I’ve ever ridden that like small throttle openings at low revs and speed have been IL4’s. TP, you need an old G80 Matchless.

I fitted at dynojet powervision on my Sportster and got it bang on! As you say, low revs, super clean pull at whatever throttle! But then the redline was only about 6k?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 2:25 pmThe Harley rocks at the city game, just lumps @ 1200rpm along without any snatchyness.
