Sometimes, i'm wasted here...
I still don't understand the motivation behind the suggestion to restrict forum use/ownership and what it would actually mean?
That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Well I don't think I'm alone here as you've not really said what the motivation behind the suggestion to restrict forum use/ownership and what it would actually means? Your response perhaps suggest that I'm not the only one who doesn't know.

You're the only reason i don't close this place down mate :)
I just went into the bear pit that is current affairs and see what you mean. I rarely venture in there, despite valuing a few people on here opinions, as it always ends up in a ruck. If its not hate speech, just let them get on with it, or are you reacting to reports?
I was simply trying to make people think a little mate.

Some don't really see or appreciate what this place means to me (and some others), they don't see the consequences of their actions and the likely longer term aspects of what that may bring..

Without decent content, this place, the posters, the members etc all fade away... i then close the forum and walk off into the sunset. But some just want to post bollox, push agendas, arguments and make this place more and more unwelcome to others.
What would you consider as a 'bollox' post? Is pushing an agenda a state of how something is perceived to someone who has a differing opinion? What's considered as decent content? Content which the reader agrees with or is interested in? Might there be content that not everyone is interested in, but there may be enough differing content for everyone to be interested in? Have you seen anything which no one is interested in?

A post that doesn't bring anything constructive to a forum in terms of discussion. That's all very subjective of course... but i look at this forum from a completely different point of view to everyone else here.... Because in simple terms, my agenda is different.

I didn't say anything, that's why i put it in General Mayhem. It was a joke thread based upon the other bollox posted on the forum. I have and have never had any desire to restrict the forum.

If i did have... you've have been banned ages ago.

It is subjective, yes. And from RTTL's own forum rules...

“Discussion is the very heart of this community as such if a thread contains a heated discussion between several members, each of whom disagree, but each of whom are responsibly debating the issue at hand, it will stay open. In relation to the site forum, controversial topics make for the best threads, however we do expect a degree of respect between community members. We feel that censorship or heavy handed moderation of this site will make for an extremely biased and boring site, so please understand that deleting or closing threads is not our goal. Unpopular opinions, as long as they are not flames, racial or stereotypical will be protected. Everyone has an opinion, and you the readers and contributors to this site will gain more from hearing all sides than we you would if only the popular opinions were published”

I can't see that as being a bannable offence. Who an idiot is, of course, is subjective.

Add to which, the forum survives on the hits it attracts. If people post interesting things, then it becomes a vibrant melting pot of different views, topics and discussions. It begins to develop a culture and it starts to be fun to use and visit - and people kind of want to belong.
But when it is full of bored keyboard warriors , who trope out the same of stuff, time and time again, then it becomes dull.

What would you rather be part of?

I know, it's yours and as I say, I can't see that as a bannable offence in the RRTL rules which I assume you wrote?

I feel absolutely fine. I assume you're suggesting they be re-written to make yourself feel better for suggesting I'd be banned for something which isn't against current rules, so you want to rewrite the rules to have me banned for 'being an idiot'?

Site activity will not be moderated because you say something that does not agree with site owners. However if a site activity degenerates into hateful flaming, it will be moderated. Discussion is the very heart of this community as such if a thread contains a heated discussion between several members, each of whom disagree, but each of whom are responsibly debating the issue at hand, it will stay open. Everyone has an opinion, and you the readers and contributors to this site will gain more from hearing all sides than we you would if only the popular opinions were published. You should always use smilies to accurately convey your tone, correct use of available smilies will help site readers and moderators to determine if you are serious or just joking. This also extends to private messages and any other area of the site.
unless your name is Ant and then you can be banned at any time by the Admin just because he feels like it.

I think this thread has been a cruel, deliberate and cynical exercise in baiting poor, defenceless Ant.

I'm all in favour... :D
