Trackdays 2023
Trackdays 2023
As most of my biking time is taken up with trackdays and the inevitable bbq in the evenings. I thought I'd start a thread where we could share where we all are and when.
If any of you guys and girls want to pop along and join in you're more than welcome. It usually ends up about 15 to 20 a year.
So far it's...
Anglesey in May and August on the James Whitham days.
Le mans with no limits in August.
Pembrey in September with Weeksy and the usual crew.
Pembrey in March hasn't been booked yet but is on the cards.
Portimao in June but I haven't mentioned it to Mrs Bowman yet
If anyone is thinking of booking something or is nervous cause its their first one just pop it up in here and I'm sure you'll have company.

Re: Trackdays 2023
The plan is to do more than last year and as early as possible but boils down to funds and time. My initial aim after I stopped racing was to do two track days per year on the road bike which I’ve been doing but I want to get proper into with the road bike so as many as possible.
I haven’t committed to any yet but hopefully get on track in April or May then take it from there.

Re: Trackdays 2023
For some reason I’m less enthusiastic this year than I normally am but I’ll get some booked soon.
Re: Trackdays 2023
Had a great day in very changeable conditions at Donno last week, Snett booked for the 11th March but if the snow/very cold temperatures that's predicted are accurate I might not bother.
Probably book Donno again for the end of March. Portimao in April. Renewed my race license again for this year but at most will do a couple of rounds that suit....

Re: Trackdays 2023
I might do some this year, didn't do any last year and 2021 was a bit meh, as every time I went near a track it rained

It'd great to meet up with you guys through the year.
I see some of you guys were/are racers. We're at the level of enthusiastic amateurs and spread through all the groups so any advice would be welcome.
If anyone wants to ride to a day we have plenty of kit/tools you could use.

Re: Trackdays 2023
I'm currently looking at doing Brands next Thursday 23/3, and Donington on the following Monday 27th , both dependant on the weather clearing up a bit so will be taking a view after this weekend and going from there- if this year is like last year, will be able to hedge my bets and book right up until the day before.
The site (both are MSV) currently shows good availability in all groups for Brands, and space in novice and fast only at Donny
Not thought much further than that yet apart from potentially doing RaceShift's Valencia one at end of Sept, which although not cheap would be a cracker , it's is very tempting . If I do end up doing Valencia, it means I won't be able to do our Pembrey bash this year, am currently mulling it over

Re: Trackdays 2023
I've only got one track day booked so far and that's Aragon at the end of the year. Will do a couple of days at Cadwell and then a mix of Donny, Snet and maybe Silverstone. It might be a year I do Brands which is my closest track LOL

Re: Trackdays 2023
I think this year people are waiting to see on the weather/world a little bit ?
We've got several Silverstones but none of you guys seem interested in that... I can't see beyond those and Pembrey really.

Re: Trackdays 2023
Haven't looked at the prices yet but Silverstone was always a bit sharpish. I'll probably do Bedford, maybe Oulton. We will see, oh and Pembrey of course.

Re: Trackdays 2023
As i always say.. It's more expensive, but it's local for us, so no hotel, smaller groups, bigger track, free breakfast and free actual instruction.

Re: Trackdays 2023
I keep looking at the MSV website for Brands days since it's only down the road for me but the last time I went there I rode like I was being followed by a copper on a RoSPA ride.
Maybe I'll actually get something booked.

I've always felt I should enjoy/go well at Silverstone with all the fast corners, but somehow i never really feel it, I think the cost and the lack of undulation could be my issue.

Re: Trackdays 2023
Yup. I find it flat and dull. Much prefer the hills and blind bends at Cadwell, Oulton , Donny and Brands.Flux wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 7:54 amI've always felt I should enjoy/go well at Silverstone with all the fast corners, but somehow i never really feel it, I think the cost and the lack of undulation could be my issue.weeksy wrote: ↑

Re: Trackdays 2023
Which days are you doing Silverstone @weeksy ?
I've got my CBR600 just sitting there not getting used very much. It's an ideal novices track bike really, I should probably get on it
