Our puppy French Bulldog! People absolutely adore her. Both people we know and strangers. She gets so excited to see anyone and they cross the road to meet her!

I went to a local-ish pub Saturday night for some pre-dinner drinks. Let friends pick the venue. They chose a pub I had not been to in years, as it always seemed full of poseurs and glamour-wannabe women.

In the intervening years since my last visit, the situation has hasn't improved. I have never been to a place so full of women pumped to max with botox, filler, teeth veneers, hair extensions and fake tits spilling out of designer dresses. Most of the blokes were all Hugo Boss, Moncler and 'Geeeeeezahh! Fahking lovely contract to do thirty fucking new build roofs!' whilst shoving bugle up their noses.

I could have spent all night in there people-watching. :D

Being reminded of my behaviour on Friday night. We went out for a PFL* on Friday, then, against our better judgement, went to friends in the evening. Well, I'd had far too much by the end of lunch, but decided that drinking many San Miguel lagers would be a good idea. My friend has just called to remind me that I was 'skating' up and down his hallway in his wife's slippers, discussing the length of Seb Coe's cock, moon walking in the kitchen (I can't moon walk) and doing my best impression of Joe Westerman, disgraced rugby player and making rude suggestions about Gregg's sausage rolls.

By all accounts it was quite entertaining.

No wonder I felt bloody awful on Saturday, mind.

What didn't help was the Martinis I had before lunch. I know Antonio makes a bloody good one, so I sat at the bar and asked for his recipe. It goes like this:

Put ice cubes in big tumbler. Add a good slug of dry Martini and stir, in order to coat the ice with the Martini. Don't want it too sweet.

Pour away the excess the Martini. Now add a treble Absolut vodka, stir again and pour into a Martini glass.

Squeeze a length of lemon zest into the Martini, just to get the essence of oil, then rub it around the rim of the glass and place on top of the now prepared Martini.

So basically his Martini is a treble vodka, with a hint of Martini.

Bloody lovely, so I had another one after that.

I was three parts pissed by the time I got to the table. :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Even though she's 18, I still put stupid notes and doodles in Gremlinette's lunch if I make it.

I don't. And I have no recollection of discussing Lord Coe's appendage either. :D

Too late to edit this, but this evening she showed me a load of really old 'lunch notes' that she's kept over the years. Bit choked, if truth be told.

Letter from the surgeon about taking hte metal out of my knee. Best line in it -

"We have agreed on removal of the material as the bone has mended, the material causes discomfort and she is young"

:bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Not only do I have a piece of paper from a surgeon (ok, almost 6 years ago) saying I am of sound mind, but this current surgeon says I'm YOUNG :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

I'm taking the letter when I go to see the physio next cos he's a dick and commented last time that although my mental age is suspect, physically I'm old :angry-cussingblack:

Not happy exactly, but always makes me laugh.

Out with friends for lunch and the dish of the day was steak haché - so she asked the guys how they want it cooked and they both said saignant (or rare!!). In general, for a good steak, I'll have blue by choice, but haché/burger, I tend to go rare. So I said saignant as well.

She looked at me and questioned if I was sure.
Yes.
You want it rare?
Yes.
It'll be bloody (or 'blooudy!!)
Perfect!!

She was amazed that a Brit, and a female Brit at that, was asking for a rare burger

I've had that before elsewhere, but with Genepi. Apparently it's unusual for the Brits to like Genepi and especially the women  Infact in one restaurant when we were offered genepi as a digestif, the woman brought 2 x genepi and gave them to the guys and 2 x some fruit vaguely alcoholic thing for the two girls    Haven't been back there since

The stereotyping does make me giggle. But then, then don't know that I don't really fit into the 'nice middle aged middle class female' bracket!! A girl that bakes, dress makes, embroiders etc doesn't usually mechanic a bit and hurl motos around the place :D :D I know some do, but it seems to raise eyebrows and cause surprise quite often!   (Even more so in France than the UK    )
