Tuesday last, I put the sugar in the cafetiere and the coffee grinds in my cup, didn't realise until I was halfway to work, was a little gritty but better than what they serve up at Costa

That's not exactly hard to achieve.MrLongbeard wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 10:56 am Tuesday last, I put the sugar in the cafetiere and the coffee grinds in my cup, didn't realise until I was halfway to work, was a little gritty but better than what they serve up at Costa

A friend of mine has half coffee half hot chocolate every morning - calls it a choffee.

I thought that was a 'mocha'DefTrap wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:10 am A friend of mine has half coffee half hot chocolate every morning - calls it a choffee.
The plural of 'anecdote' is not 'data'.

Does a 'mocha' actually have coffee in it?? I thought it was called a mocha because it's a 'mock' coffee.Count Steer wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:52 amI thought that was a 'mocha'DefTrap wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:10 am A friend of mine has half coffee half hot chocolate every morning - calls it a choffee.![]()

I do that at a place in Albertville - just because their coffee is undrinkable to me, so I have a hot choc and an espresso. And every sodding time they say it won't fit in the same paper cup so give me a hot choc and an espresso on the side - which I then tip into the hot choc and put the lid on it!Count Steer wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:52 amI thought that was a 'mocha'DefTrap wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:10 am A friend of mine has half coffee half hot chocolate every morning - calls it a choffee.![]()
Don't think a mocha has a 'proper' amount of coffee in it!! LOL Well, not the same when I've been told to have that at the hotchoc/espresso shop anyway!!Rockburner wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:59 amDoes a 'mocha' actually have coffee in it?? Apparently...'Although a mocha is often interpreted differently across the world, the basis is that a shot of espresso is combined with a chocolate powder or syrup, followed by milk or cream. It is a variant of a latte, in the sense that it is often 1/3 espresso and 2/3 steamed milk.'
So I guess you could have a double shot version.

I reckon that the mocha they make is seriously light on the coffee. When I mix a hot choc with a (single) espresso, it's blooming lovelyCount Steer wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 12:04 pm Apparently...'Although a mocha is often interpreted differently across the world, the basis is that a shot of espresso is combined with a chocolate powder or syrup, followed by milk or cream. It really wasn't the nurses fault, but it does peeve me a bit that it is so bloody difficult to get blood out of my arm!!
Blood test this morning and only the third vein agreed to give up the goods!! At least the local nurse doesn't put the needle in and then wiggle it about to find a better position lie the ones in hospital/rehab did

But I do have the start of a decent bruise from the last (and successful) attempt!!
Dammit!

I've always known them as a coffee/chocolate combo. First time I ever had one was on a skiing trip, in the Chateau Lake LouiseNoggin wrote: Fri Feb 17, 2023 12:22 pmI reckon that the mocha they make is seriously light on the coffee. The only good coffee shop is one whose main purpose is not to sell coffee...

I gave up coffee about 20 years ago. A splitting headache for three days and the addiction is over. I love the smell of coffee but have no desire to drink it, these days it's water or green tea (beer and wine as well obvs).

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I have one "real" coffee a day now, the rest are decaf. All are real in the sense they're brewed fresh though.
According to my smart watch my resting heart rate dropped 10bpm when I made that switch
I honestly couldn't say I noticed feeling much different at the time, but now if I have a couple of full fat brews I feel pretty wired. Strange to think I must have felt like that most of the time before. A permanently elevated heart rate can't be good for you in any case.

When I has that nasty bastid flu over the new years, I went off tea and coffee and hadn't had any alcohol since a few days after boxing day. I've been on the herbal/fruit teas since but have started having coffee again but not to the extent I had been, mid afternoon espresso is nice whilst in the garage pottering about and thinking what to do next.
Before that, I'd have three coffees in the morning easily and drink it all day, could easily do 10 or more a day.

Same, plus I was pissing like a racehorse - apparently I have a caffeine intolerance.Mr. Dazzle wrote: Sat Feb 18, 2023 10:38 am I have one "real" coffee a day now, the rest are decaf. All are real in the sense they're brewed fresh though.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Sometimes I wish I liked coffee, but I'm not really keen on it. I used to like dunking cheese sandwiches in a cup of maxwell house when I was young, or a Cafe Carajillo after a meal when in Spain. But in the main, a proper brew of Yorkshire tea is my drink.
