The 90s were the decade that I 'got' electronic dance music; techno, house, breakbeat, drum and bass. I had some of the best times of my life on the dance floor in that decade. They were also the years when I put the most amount of miles on bikes and did the majority of the track days I've done. I'd happily go back to the '90s...
Late 70s early 80s in Bradford was amazing.

1976? Interesting and quite specific choice of year. Any particular reason?
Pre-punk?
Nah, I'm sure the Pistols were around before then. I can remember gig reviews in NME.
Yebbut they didn't arrive in the public consciousness until December 1976 on the Today show with Bill Grundy.

I'd like to emphasise that I make no claims about being a trend setter :)

Kind of got drawn in as following Cabaret Voltaire they got more 'dance' but the rise of the independents like Rough Trade and Factory was  But even back in 'mod' days when Motown was all the rage the labels like Chess and Stax were the engine room. It's like the music industry has tiers...there's the fluff on the top and the good stuff underneath. Awards ceremonies seem to be all fluff...because it shifts units. :(

I noticed (peripherally) that Wet Leg got an award at the Brits. If so, they're one of the few non-manufactured bands to have risen to the heady heights of awards ceremonies without being fluff-tastic.

And Atlantic label soul (so Northern Soul in essence). Strangely, I arrived at a love for old Motown, Stax and Atlantic via Dexys Midnight Runners! (First album, not later crap)

Their album went to number one but Chaise Longue peaked at number 75 in the singles so they don't have the mass market.

Having listened to everything I can find of them over the past week, they're spectacular. Only the second album I've listened to start to finish since Jagged Little Pill.
