Re: Find me a van then...
I have a slightly different heater of this type and it'll heat a small space very quickly...
...but as soon as you open the door you'll lose all of the heat.
I heat the office at home which is I guess about a van and a half in size but it's very well insulated. with a combination of one of these and an oil filled radiator. I use the fan heater to bring it up from freezing to about 18 and then maintain about 20 with the oil filled radiator. They're both controlled by a raspberry pi.
In short... get the diesel heater as it'll warm up the van for sleeping in but also insulate the van.
Alternatively just get warm clothes from Decathalon.

Re: Find me a van then...
If yo do get a diesel heater you are probably better paying the extra for an all in one. It will take more knocks than the little cylinder one what has a plastic cover. You dont need to plumb in the tank and diesel pump with associated hoses. Either option means you need holes in the floor though

I bought one of these lights.

It's actually pretty decent. Also magnetic so i can stick it up on the van side/roof/door/wherever needed.
I've just bought a 2nd one actually.
It'll last 4-6 hours between charging, which is plenty in truth. But plugs into a USB charger to charge up which is fine too.

I did this this morning waiting for the ferry. Granted it was about two degrees and the the drive from the hotel to the ferry terminal was about 200 metres, but it took about 30 minutes before the cab was up to even vaguely warm.

The thing that I love about the van is days like today, ride, have fun, throw bikes in back and drive straight to the brewery for a pint or two. Don't have to think of plans or ideas.

What I liked about having a van was not necessarily needing to unload it all on a Sunday evening if you didn't feel up to it.

We always had enough food, clothes, stuff etc in our camper, to be able to just get in and go

Some boards on the roof bars and with that ladder you've got the perfect viewing platform.

Yeah would work in certain scenarios but very very few in honesty. The riding area is very rarely anywhere that near to the parking area.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:13 pm Some boards on the roof bars and with that ladder you've got the perfect viewing platform.

Re: Find me a van then...
Yup, the world has gone mad recently here on van prices - I paid £22.8k OTR inc VAT and ply for my brand new LWB 145PS Sport Trafic 18 months ago. I knew I got a great deal at the time but I've just gone back to the dealer I got mine from to ask, and if they could get one, it would now cost me £10k more than that from them...Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:09 pm30 grand, 5 years oldweeksy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:53 pm MMMMMM this is what i want next

The price is what the price is... it's not unreasonable compared to others.Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:09 pm30 grand, 5 years oldweeksy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:53 pm MMMMMM this is what i want next

Blimey. I paid £4,000 for my 6 year old Jumbo Transit in 2011.weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:40 pmThe price is what the price is... it's not unreasonable compared to others.Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:09 pm30 grand, 5 years oldweeksy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:53 pm MMMMMM this is what i want next

Re: Find me a van then...
Isn't it though? My Vivavro is a year newer, only has 10k more miles and was £17k from the same garage. This seems an awful lot more for alloys and the colour (which is ghastly).weeksy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:40 pmThe price is what the price is... it's not unreasonable compared to others.Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 1:09 pm30 grand, 5 years oldweeksy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:53 pm MMMMMM this is what i want next
