I collected the bike today. Good job I've ridden Tmaxes before as I immediately felt too big for it as I have with its predecessors. Strangely it's a bit of a stretch to get your feet down! Whilst smaller riders would look less of an idiot on it, they would certainly struggle to get their feet own!

Anyway, I pulled away and felt like I'd owned it for ages. Its so easy to ride it feels familiar! I needed juice so pulled in the Folestone services and treated it to a tank full of Shell V Power. Well, I did once i'd worked out how to open the fuel cap. I need to read the manual as you have to have the ignition off but not locked to open the cap.

I pulled away from the services and didn't stop until got home. I literally just rode the M20 to the M25 and then otheA13 and home! I didn't stop once! The good things were the cruise control which is super easy to set, adjust and resume and with the scoot being an auto its really useful. It'll make the 2 average speed stretches of A road I go on a breeze! I thought the heated seat was a bit of a stupid idea but enjoyed it as i did the heated grips. The adjustable screen is good but even at full height I was in a bit of buffeting, but the combo of all three saw me arrive home warmer than I did going the other way on the MT09.

The Downside was it was in touring more which is like a rain mode. Horrible and unresponsive and pissed me off a bit as I couldn't seem to change it on the go? Once home I found I could change it when stopped and nipped around the block. That's more like it! I'll only ride it in sports mode now, for sure!

Once home i hooked my phone up to it and download the Yamaha MyRide and link app. I'm not sure if I'll pay for the garmin app as I don't need it for my commute and rarely go anywhere on a bike other rthnan that. Mind you, i do like all options to be working, so for a £30 sub I might try it later on?

Overall I think I liked it, but was really sad to see the mt09 go if I'm honest, and it took the edge off of the new bike. I'm sure I'll get into it more in the coming days...

First ride on the daily commute with it today.

Bad bits; The wing mirrors stick out into different postcodes, which made filtering awkward. I found I could bring them in a click and whilst losing some view it did help. This probably isn't a fair criticism of the bike though, just fairing-mounted mirrors in general. Next up was its power!  In sport mode, it's actually very responsive and whilst trying to get the mirrors past some car wing mirrors it gets a bit snatchy if you grab some throttle. Maybe touring mode has a use after all! The butt pad on the seat sticks into the base of my spine and is uncomfortable. It is adjustable so will check it's on its furthest back setting? Maybe I just need to adjust how I sit though, as I don't recall noticing it on the ride home from the dealers? :wtf: I did notice it's a bit vibey on pull away? Its not enough to even bother me, but it's noticeable. Mind you, it's only done 700 miles so maybe its got to bed in yet? The seat is very firm but I guess/hope I'll just get used to that?

Good bits; Cruise control is superb. It's such a help on average speed camera stretches and generally good on the open road as well. Big fan of that. The 2 possible leg positions really worked for me. If my knee starts to ache I change position. As this was the reason for getting the thing, its really good news to find out I haven't made an expensive mistake. :D Next up is the suspension, which is bloody lovely. Doing the same journey each day there are certain bits of road that I wince as I go over the unavoidable bumps etc, but the Tmax just soaks them up. Its really nicely damped!

Early days yet, but so far I'd say it's working out well. Phew!

A couple of other things, its very quiet! I could say too quiet for me, but with an Akra coming in at £1700  , it'll be staying that way! I have ordered a bar riser kit. It'll lift the bars 20mm up and back, which should be ideal as I would like the bars a bit higher.

Is having the use of the sat-nag a one off payment,or do you need to subscribe monthly?

It's an annual premium as far as I know? I'm kinda tempted so I can see how it works and integrates through the controls and £30 isn't the end of the world, but i don't really have any use for it. I think I've only needed a sat nav once or twice before but even then I got around it easily enough.

Yeah, i'm kinda expecting it. Upgraded my locks etc and protected ny NCD for what its worth. But I cant not have things because of other people. I'd rather sit in my dotage remembering things i had and lost, than regretting not owning things...

On the bright side you might hear some little shite trying to nick it and use reasonable force with a baseball bat to protect yourself and your property ;)

Does the catheter bag go under the seat?
Werther's in the glove box!

Was thinking about a super scoot over here, but they're too long to fit in my moho, so I'll just have to snipe at the people who own them :flame:

I went in to a place to buy a baseball bat a few years ago and the sales chap was pretty clued up. He recognised that I wasn't exactly a home run sort and said 'Home security? May I recommend the Slugger?'

It's as well to buy a mitt and a ball before you pulp an intruder, then you can at least try to claim you had a valid reason for having a Slugger to hand.

Edit: I left the clear plastic cover on it so I had half a chance of removing it, and the blood, before forensic turned up.

I'm not sure my Slugger's big enough to be of any use....
