I am furloughed for the next 4 weeks at least. Wife has been off work since before Xmas due to a knee replacement so she was already getting cabin fever, she's off for another 2 weeks at least.
Had a supermarket delivery on Monday, there's beer, bread and milk in the shops in the village and the butcher has plenty of fresh meat.
I've been doing some jobs outside so I've been able to enjoy the good weather while it lasts, and annoy the neighbours who actually are WFH
It's like a practice run for retirement, the only downside is having a new bike in the garage and not being able to ride it

Support for businesses through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
Under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, all UK employers with a PAYE scheme will be able to access support to continue paying part of their employees’ salary for those that would otherwise have been laid off during this crisis.

This applies to employees who have been asked to stop working, but who are being kept on the pay roll, otherwise described as ‘furloughed workers’. HMRC will reimburse 80% of their wages, up to £2,500 per month. This is to safeguard workers from being made redundant.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will cover the cost of wages backdated to 1 March and is initially open for 3 months, but will be extended if necessary. HMRC will set out more details shortly.

I'm furloughed aswel.. until April 20 but I reckon it could go longer. These days I can manage on 80% but a few years back, it would of been much harder.

The scheme has been opened up to the self employed now, but I believe they won't get any cash until June. Also, some self employed I know only put 12k ish through the books as a tax dodge, but this payment is now based on there official earnings averaged over the last 3 years. Hope they've got rainy day money.

It's all pretty grim.

Generally ok, bar the odd meltdown from the Mrs. She insists on reading all the social media crap, scares herself witless and then gets upset.
I am WFH although I've just received a document to present if challenged as a key worker. Maybe there's a plan to call us back if needed.
Cycling is like a closed road event most of the time.
Went out on the bike for some cable. Was contemplating going for a long trip but then thought better of it.
Plenty of DIY to do.

Apart from dropping off some rhubarb at a neighbour's door a few days ago, I haven't left home for ten days when I last went shopping. I plan to shop again on Tuesday so hope there is plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables when I get there. Some meat and cheese would be good, too.
I'm used to being at home most of the time so it's no hardship, especially as Mr BB is kind enough to keep finding tasks for me to stop me getting bored. The latest addition to the list it renovating a motorcycle seat.

So, into work today to take 4 key workers through CBT who are a carer, NHS employee and 2 people at supermarkets who just got new jobs and need peds to get to work so permitted training. Classroom outside spaced all over the place, they are not allowed in the main area we use. Radios wiped down and placed in bags for each use as with earpieces, latex gloves everywhere and sanitiser on everything they touch including card machines .

Once on bikes much simpler but each must provide their own helmet and gloves rather than using school kit and instruction on pad by radio rather than a close up chat.

Out and about on road ride heard some old bloke yelling "how is that essential travel" as we went by .....also stopped to have a chat about a few bits to work on with us spread out on pavement in a big spaced triangle and again "thats not 2m apart, you are socialising in a group of more than 2"....ffs

You try and help but hey ho...... see what tomorrow brings and Sunday as i now have 2 carers tomorrow and 4 on Sunday who are either NHS/Supermarket/Carers.

Bit weird for me and missus after a week at home in lockdown like everyone else but she has been called into work (senior night shift carer at care home) tonight and tomorrow when she should be off and i am working all weekend as well so both taking all the precautions we can while doing what we can

It's a toughie. In the last 2 weeks, we've had 2 folk come to our villa. We kept well apart. We should be OK.

If it was a normal CBT i would agree with you entirely and i wouldnt have even turned up to facilitate it .....however we were asked to provide it so key workers can get to work as public transport shuts down and people avoid it. If you just want a ticket to ride then tough shit, you can wait 3 months and see what happens then. Trust me mate i would be happy at home with the people i know and love rather than people i have never met before and need to keep at more than arms length .... we arent training 16 year old to ride peds for fun with their mates or get to non existant college and all big bike DAS training is gone for people wanting bike licenses .....its the bare minimum to get people who need it to and from work

Sheesh, you sound like our local hysterical Facebook support group.
Besides, how do we gain herd immunity, which you reckon will defeat this, if we're all locked up and don't catch it? The current plan is to spread it out over time to soften the blow on the NHS, not stop people becoming infected.

There is no cure, no antidote, so all you're doing is enabling people to transport the virus by other means than public transport. I'm not blaming you personally of course, but until we stop providing this virus with more hosts, it will keep propagating. I'll concede the NHS need staff in the same way we need to go out for vittles though. Basically, we're fucked.
