Ah you'll know that road man!
It's the run down to Balintoy from Ballycastle direction.

Looks very Isle of Man-ish, but then I guess Norn Iron does...

Being near home after a short trip south. Left on Monday, back home tomorrow, having been as far south as Exeter and then back via Goring, Herne Hill and Edinburgh.

... And I do! Didn't recognise it, as I'm usually 3m to the left of your bike and going a bit quicker!

Not sure they'd want to eat cake - they are both chalet hosts, so they make and have access to enough of it!

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Free stuff!
B-I-L came around the other night with a two rib joint of beef from Waitrose, where he works, which was given to him. Alas he didn't have the freezer space so it now resides in mine. The only caveat is that he wants an invite to Sunday dinner when it's cooked. Fair dos.
He also gave me two 750g slabs of panettone from the Waitrose cafe that they've now stopped selling as it's gone Christmas. They'll make an excellent panettone bread and butter pudding for afters.

Larne to Portrush, in both directions - via Torr Head road, Cushendun and Ballintoy harbours. Then the Bishops road above Benone. Magic.
Looking fwd to May and 10 days NW200 trip already.

It's been pretty cold here recently (-11) and my snowboard was not liking it one bit, despite having been serviced!.
I had the skishop wax it with cold weather wax and now it goes like stink

Meh. Nuffink is quicker downhill in the snow than a wheely bin lid liberally sprayed with Pledge. Fact.

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
I've skied two days in a row!!!
Not only that, I've skied better and faster than I ever remember
AND, not just a little bit each day, almost all day, both days!!!
Ok, my knee is a bit stiff now, but damn, over all it feels good So so GOOD

Re: Insignificant Things That Make You Happy.
Had a circular from our HR dept. Paternity leave has been increased from two weeks paid to 16 weeks paid and 10 weeks on half pay, if wanted. I recall that when the Gremlinette was born I was given two days discretionary leave. I would have loved to have been off longer, but didn't have the holiday and we couldn't really afford to take unpaid.
Nice to see that things have moved on.
(My vasectomy and age precludes any chance to have another, and adoption agencies would run a mile, so not a snowball's chance in Hell of taking advantage, but luckily I get 1 weeks paid leave if I become a grandparent )

I'd put a complaint in about that.gremlin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 4:16 pm Had a circular from our HR dept. How very archaic to call it Paternity leave, they need to get woke with the times, it's Parental leave.
