Re: New toy just as the nation freezes...
Well apart from the 97 mile ride home in sleet, rain, plagues of frogs etc I've done no miles. Bunged a battery charger linky on and strangely a pillion seat & footrest hangers, just in case. Other than that I've had a good look at it, tightened some loose fairing bolts and contemplated suspension settings for moi (10 1/2 stone) compared to old owner (metric fukktonne)
It's not really going to get any use at all until there's a dry spell that's the right side of ten degrees methinks...

You'll not get many arguments here !!! However, we do need more pics !!!hawkati wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 11:00 am Well apart from the 97 mile ride home in sleet, rain, plagues of frogs etc I've done no miles. Doesn't it just? One of many many things to look at, fettle & adjust before the world heats up again. Doing no riding whatsoever atm, but booking it in at Baines in January for a good look over, diagnosis, belts & valves.

Re: New toy just as the nation freezes...
Brief update - had a starting/tickover issue so booked it into moto rapido. As soon as I gave the reg number they said there was a lot more wrong with it. Took it there, they dropped the oil and there's swarf in the strainer.
Long story short the main bearings are on the way out. Took engine out and it's sat at Baines ready for a full on rebuild. Previous owner had been told of the issue and binned it out to a dealer who passed it on as a private sale. Getting a partial contribution to repairs and I've recently sold another bike so here's looking forward to a fresh new start in the spring.

The joys of Ducati ownership
I guess if you keep the reciepts you can get your money back if you come to sell it.
I'll never get back what I put into my old XT600..

Well, the one positive thing about it all is, it happened at the best time of year. Come the Spring you'll put it behind you and get to enjoy a great bike.hawkati wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 10:31 am Brief update - had a starting/tickover issue so booked it into moto rapido. Ah - the joys of new bike ownership, which is always a bloody lottery regardless of make. Hence my gunning for a rebuild. I could have pushed to get my money back, probably in 9 months time and a lot of grief, then started again with the gamble that any replacement bike could be equally dodgy. Likewise I could have spent £2.5k on another engine which also might be fukkered.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 10:42 am The joys of Ducati ownership

Thankfully I'd done buggerall miles on it due to shite weather and with any new vehicle I change the oil & filters asap so I'd have caught this, I hope, in time anyway.
Meanwhile, but of a tart up of the rest of the bike and setting it up for road riding for my weight rather than track settings for a fat bastard
