Had a rare treat today. Only ride in the wet about once a year here. The terrain and grip changes dramatically.
The rain's ok coz it's warm. But can't see bugger all

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Aha - I can finally post on this...
I went into the garage this morning armed with 5L of petrol and the hope that it might be really as simple as putting it into a motorcycle and riding away - but alas, she's more demanding than that and as soon as I switched the petrol on I noticed it pissing out of the left hand carburettor...why is it always the left that messes about?
A tap on the carb (and a couple more small nicks where I've done it before) made no difference, so it was off with the carb and free up sticky floats and needle valve - this sounds very simple, but try changing a left hand carb on a 350LC when it's 5c and the rubber is like hard plastic.
Once done, it actually went second kick, after not being started for at least a year, so a quick check, a short prayer and the sign of the cross, and I was away. It was a bit parky and I soon had the nostalgic feeling of frozen knees, tingling fingers and a steamed up visor.
I really enjoyed being out but the roads were awful, cow shit and road grime made me pucker up a couple of times, then rain stopped play.

I went out again yesterday but it was so cold that I didn't get far, the roads were really slimy and a front end short slide had me turning around and going home, I doubt I'll go out on a motorbike in the UK again until the temperature is at least double figures.

Yeah it's rubbish now,my idea of fun on a bike relies on having grip and that's gone now. The roads are freshly salted too,so I'm out.Potter wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 12:19 pm I went out again yesterday but it was so cold that I didn't get far, the roads were really slimy and a front end short slide had me turning around and going home, I doubt I'll go out on a motorbike in the UK again until the temperature is at least double figures.

Had a nice 200 mile jaunt. Damp start but soon dried up. Some of the hairpins up in the mountains had damp patches and I was thankful for the ABS a couple of times.
Was perfect riding weather. Sun's beaming now and temp is rising. I got the best bit of the day.
Will be home in time to give it the annual wash It needs it

Fairings off and cleaned underneath?
Wheels out and the underside of the mudguard and hugger cleaned?
Underneath the headstock cleaned?

I'm having trouble expunging that image...

And I may be an arsehole, but at least I haven't got such pudgy fingers that they make a guest appearance in every bloody photo....Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Dec 08, 2022 3:44 pm Had a nice 200 mile jaunt.
