16 today. Not doing too bad, still thinks he's a puppy.

A few minor gripes:
Eyes are poor
Few teeth left
Occasionally incontinent
'Westie Lung' (incurable gradual deterioration)

Contrary to the usual line, he doesn't answer to the name of 'Lucky'.

Partly because his name's Robbie, but mainly because he's deaf.
The 'Westie lung' caught up with him last night.

We said goodbye early this morning :(

It's quiet in the house ...

Ah. Sorry to hear that - did he come to the end himself, or did he have to be "helped over the hill"?

Late last night he was struggling to breathe. We got him to a night vet at 3.30. Bronchodilator and oxygen didn't help, he couldn't get oxygen into his system.

So, yes, we made the decision.

I liked your comment, not because I did, but, well, you know...

Sorry to hear it.
We had our dog put down in 2014 and didn't have another til last year. With the benefit of hindsight I feel that period was too long and we should have had another sooner.
Still, the one we have now is pretty ace so we got the right dog, if perhaps a little late.

But as he wasn't even born back then it's maybe worked out for the best.

I bought the wife a French Bulldog for Xmas, but I got ripped off. Its clearly a moray eel that someone has stuck legs and bat ears on! You can't disguise those teeth and neither have been seen together on the same shipwreck. Coincidence? I think not!

That is such a hard thing to do and you know you are doing the right thing, but it still hurts and is still painful. Peace and good memories of your Lucky Robbie.

Oh dear me... yes, I could have chosen my words more carefully in this select group.

Ahem, to say again, The Dog was taken to the beautician and given a makeover!

Guess what my wife has started a course on. It was the thought of paying someone 45+ quid every three month. She was a hairdresser in a previous life so decided to do out small dog and he came out looking surprisingly good.
