My Uncle Jack was a baker and made a good one. Unfortunately he is long gone, and the recipe with him.

Adopted Cornish, originally from Devon. No known connection with web-fingered bog dwellers.

My village butcher was getting his bread delivered by a local bakery, they started doing lardy cakes, which were lovely. Then they changed bakers, now I have to suffer Eccles cakes instead!!Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 11:40 am Haven't seen Lardy cake for years. Last time was in a bakers/cafe in Stow on the Wold. A good one is delicious, a poor one is a greasy mess.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Went to a bike/car show at the local HD dealer, looked around, bought stuff, ate stuff, listened to an awful cover band & left...
HD shop is next to the local freeway which is higher than the dealer parking lot & situated on a curve. You can see vehicles going past in the #4 lane...
Rode North from the dealer & got on the Freeway. Gave it the berries headed South. Traffic complied & I was able to swoop over to the #4 lane & dawdle past at around 140mph to the melodious accompaniment of my Muzzy Meg giving the sauce. Got a call from a friend at the show just after I got home who told me it was sufficient for the singer with the band to stop singing & ask "What the fuck was that??" in the middle of a Springsteen song
Then I ate the huge Jack Daniels infused butter pecan cupcake I bought home with me which gave me such a sugar rush/crash that I fell asleep for an hour.
I really need to grow up, but I hear it's over rated.

Stayed at my home last night. Cos I had to see the Doc at 9am up here. Saw Doc. Good chat. No solutions but it's an ongoing thing, so no stress
Walked home to go see my soon to be boss (office is in my building!) and so now I am a very very happy Noggin -
I start work on the 15th November
Freaking awesome. Two weeks wages to start the winter with is a bonus! And I've been so impatient to get back to work!!
Damn my French is going to come on fast once I start!! LOL
Heading down to meet some friends for coffee in a mo then back to nocatsit house to prep a chinese meal for tomorrow. The rest of the week will be sewing cos I NEED to get some stuff done before I start work

Lolz'ed at bathroom guys demolishing the cupboard walls in the bathroom. The bathroom used to be the kitchen and the cupboard was a proper larder originally vented to outside. No plaster, just proper concrete render over brickwork. I heard one of the say, "Fuck me, they don't build 'em like this anymore!!

First session of physio terrorism. There's about 18 different parts to it, so still have 17 to go.
Shortly I'm off to the store to buy the winning ticket for tonight's $1,900,000,000 lottery draw (Yes, $1.9 BILLION).. which, given the 30c on the $1 payout after taxes etc & taking the cash option is a hair under $600M... (Cash option is $929M before Federal taxes, no State taxes in Calizuela on lottery prizes)
I think I could scrape by...
