Is this normal for 35 year olds?
I was taking the piss out of one of the youngsters in the office today when he said that he supported green political policies, I then pointed out that he drives a large Audi, takes foreign holidays and works at somewhere that destroys the environment so that people can buy shit they don't need, he thought this was fine because it is up to the government to save the environment and he didn't have to do anything himself, and he didn't think that he should do anything to change his life style unless the government encouraged him to, in fact he saw himself as some sort of eco warrior.
Is this how current 35 year olds think, that nothing is their responsibility, and that they have to be told what to do by the state?

I'm 44 and I don't give a fuck.
I have no kids and I'll be long dead before it's a massive problem.
I'm gonna buy a V8.

I'm 55 and a selfish twat, but if I thought the world was in imminent danger of environmental collapse I would drive a more fuel efficient car and stop using motor vehicles for fun.

Sounds like the poster boy for 'Cognitive Dissonance'....he's probably a meat eating 'vegan' too.

I think it's normal for people, I don't think the age comes into it.

Maybe I should have more social interaction with people, or maybe that's why I stopped.

Quite a few of my young colleagues and my mates kids don't drive and aren't interested in driving. They seem to have been brought up to be concerned about the planet and things like animal welfare in farming etc and generally speaking a lot more socially aware than I was at that age. I won't be here to see it, but I think the current and coming generations will change a lot of things for the better of the globe.

They tend to get a bit confused when you point out that computer modeling is nothing but a highly inaccurate wild ass guess & ask them for actual evidence..
