Best road you've ever ridden (or driven, if we must)

I quite like the A537 Cat'n'Fiddle road

What's the surface like these days, last time I rode it in the 90s it was bumpy in comparison with the nearby A6, if you're in that area the Via Gellia road is good.

It's okay, not great at the Macclesfield end. There was some resurfacing in the last couple of years so overall it's decent on the open mountain.

For my money the Wrynose and Hardnott passes in Cumbria take some beating.

The scenery's great*, driving that road is horrible.

If you want a road with fantastic views but is horrible to drive, try this one.

Basically bare rock with some loose gravel to keep you on your toes, horrendous drops off the edge, and a view to die for. Which you probably will if you don't watch where you are going.

Hard to identifya complete road, most of my favourites would be a series of bends, I will often do a route just for a particular bend.
Done the B500 four or five times in both directions have to be going fast to make it interesting (2x the limit in places) and can be dodgy with all the tourists and walkers.
N85 done several times as well, first time was 1985 on a Le Mans couple of times on the Tuono and three or four times in a car.
Roads round Châtillon-sur-Seine, France D928 and D944 are good and quiet.
Simlarly roads around Cochem, Germany are also good, Nurburing without having to pay.
Locally Geat Dunmow to Finchingfield is nice.

Found the Val d'Orcia in Tuscany. Bit of a Mecca for the local riders and I can see why. Proper twisties, lovely scenery and great places to stop.
