You getting the valves done?
Puncture would be a pain, since my 2 punctures the amount of screws and nails I've picked up from roads around my village is ridiculous.

Yes, valve clearances, been told it will cost about £600 if the valve clearances are okay, £800 if any shims need changing.
Puncture would be an arse, but the rear tyre has done around 3500 miles and the front at least 6000, so I might put a new pair of tyres on it, something grippier than the current Pirelli Angels.

I'd be amazed if any valves needed shimmed at double that mileage.

So will I, but it's as well to get them checked, having looked at what needs to come off to get to the valves £600 is about right, it's not like my Kawasaki where you take the tank off and then the cam cover is directly underneath, and that takes me a couple of hours.

But everything is off when they check the shims anyway. How much do you think a 15000 mile service on a Suzuki 16 valve engine should cost, it's got a very similar engine to your GSXR.

I never paid more than about £200 in the UK coz I avoided posh shiny places. Back street garage can have same skilled mechanics at a fraction of the cost.

Franchised dealer is always going to be spendy. Once out of warranty,then it's handy to do it yourself,or have a pet spanner spinner. It'll be a lot cheaper then.

How many 15000 mile services did you have on the GSXRs where you bought a new one every year, from memory, all the SRAD onwards GSXR engines have 15000 mile valve clearances checks
I'm capable of checking valve clearances myself, if I wanted to save money, I fitted a new cam chain in my Kawasaki engine last year, but I didn't buy this bike to fiddle with, so I'm happy for the Suzuki dealership to do the work.

I can't see how you'd get a valve service for £200 without the matey-est of mates rates. Even the backest of backstreet garages around here charge £80 for a oil/filter in a car.

Was D-Tech in Postcombe. Proper ex Suzuki mechanic and ex racer. He knew what my bikes were doing.
