Guitar pics - show me what you got!

Post by dern »

Bit of a Rick and Morty reference but interested to see what anyone has guitar wise. This is my shed where most of my kit lives...

Notable bits are the Ric that I bought because I like the Jam and was unplayable until a local brilliant guitar person lined up the saddle for me and gave it a great service, the Strat that I have modified an awful lot and has some weird switching set up and a bridge single coil and a bridge single coil and the amp head which I built from an ampmaker P1800 kit that I love and sits on a roadkill 2x12 cab.

All I need is the enthusiasm to play more than I currently do.

How do you keep your shed dry enough?

I like my guitars like I like my bikes. Er... black.

Got all the bases covered here. '95 Les Paul Standard, '89 USA Strat and something modern for doing a little of both.

Current amp is a Vox Night Train 15w. Also have a Laney VC30 (just in shot) which is for sale, plus various solid state amps and effects and the like, all for sale too.

As per the other thread, I'm trying to streamline. One amp (!) and simple pedals - the Plethora for all the things that can be faked digitally, and analog drives, compressors and wah. Need at least 3 guitars though, obvs. And not all the same either, like Skub's :)

It's designed as a home office and has two skins of wood separated by insulation in the walls, roof is insulated and so is the floor, double glazing and I have an oil radiator to keep it above freezing. I work in it all week too so it gets plenty of traffic and ventilation. I built it ten years ago and never had an issue with the damp.

Loving these!

I have ( in order of how much I like them, although this does change a bit) -

- a modded squier affinity Tele. Sort of to look like Prince's Tele. (Added fender locking tuners, better pickups, better pots, different wiring etc). This is my favourite.
- a Harley Benton semi acoustic with a superwide neck for my jumbo fingers. For the money, this is excellent. This is the only one I haven't considered modifying yet, there doesn't seem to be a reason to
- an HB semi acoustic strat. Actually rather nice and useful when I get tired of grappling with other massive acoustics.
- a strat kit guitar (because I was super bored in lockdown and need something to practice fret levelling on). Its actually ok with a few cheapish mods, it has potential. Far easier to get a fully built squier though.
- an 80s Yamaha sg510 (should in theory be my favourite but I think there's some setup issues that are , currently, a little beyond me. It just sounds wrong).

I like taking them apart almost as much as playing them. Strongly considering going on one of those Crimson luthiering courses.

Nice to see that 5 guitars is just getting started. My missus will be thrilled.

Next purchase should really be an amp, probably a Boss Katana.

I'm away at the moment, I'll add some pics when I get back
