Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Santander are indeed theiving c***s of the highest order. Years ago they nearly bankrupt and broke me. It was my fault initially, by my miscalculating some money and going overdrawn by about a tenner. They then charged me a series of evergrowing £30s. One for going overdrawn, which even when i'd put some money into cover my initial mistake, still left me overdrawn. They then proceeded to not pay direct debist and standing orders and charging me £30 for each one they didn't pay.
This was pre internet banking days and I only used to get monthly statements. By the time I'd got the statements, every other bastard that hadn't been paid because of Santander had started charging me non payment fees etc and now demanding double payments etc. Santander even charged me a correspondence fee at one point. I couldn't, and still cant, believe how much debt I accrued for a brief, small unauthorised overdraft!
Some years later, thanks to Martin Lewis, I found out they had no right to do it and I ended going through everything they;d ever charged me (illegal charges, PPI etc) and up taking Santander to task and getting over £7k back from them. Legalised thieves and utter c***s.

Earphones.
Specifically, in-ear, noise cancelling earphones. Meh.
On recommendation, bought a pair of Skullcandys. I should know better, I just don't have the right lugs for them. None of the various ear gels give sufficient coupling for decent bass. They'll do for language app stuff.
Ho hum. Back to the old ones with wires and little foam hats on for music on the move.

People who get tribal and defensive about their choices. I stayed in a hotel in Fort William last night and mentioned in passing to a mate that it's internet connection was dire to the point of being unusable, pages taking so long to load they would time out mkaing impossible to log in to some of the sites I wanted to.
Cue him going off on a tiny strop and all manner of straw clutching reasons for it, despite him being a self declared technophobe, he won't use internet search engines as he once made a spelling mistake and ended up somewhere he didn't want to be. I kid you not.
Turns out it's his favourite hotel, no connection to it other than he likes it.
It seems weird behaviour to me anyway.

TBF I think he might have been scared by the image of a naked woman. He also has intermittent situational dyslexia.

Amazon.
I placed an order yesterday: email says "arriving Wednesday"
This morning's email: "dispatched, for delivery tomorrow"
Latest email: "arriving today"
OK, I get the stuff sooner than I expected but what if I'd made plans, changed them after the second email and had to change them again after the third?

Our amazon delivery man allows for all of that. He just kindly leaves it on the doorstep and doesn't even risk disturbing you by ringing the bell or using the door knocker, he rather thoughtfully taps gently, once on the door glass.Saga Lout wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:28 pm Amazon.

Whatever day they message me to say it's arriving, it'll be the next day. Amazon don't seem to realise that everything takes an extra day to get up to resortSaga Lout wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 12:28 pm Amazon.

Of course, it only works if the normal postie is working (she leaves parcels in the cupboard outside the apartment). When she's on holiday I lose parcels - I suspect they are put in someone else's post box but as there's no one here till December, that isn't any use!!

A friend dropped off one of the lost packages yesterday - it was put in his postbox as it's a business postbox by the door! Saved the postie actually walking through the building to find my postbox I suppose.Noggin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 3:30 pmWhatever day they message me to say it's arriving, it'll be the next day. So - do I tell Amazon that it's been given to me? How much hassle is that gonna be for something that worth very little (about 8€). Half of me feels the need to be honest that I've got it, the other half baulks at the hassle it's going to cause!!
No sign of the other 'lost' package!!

AFAIK it's unlawful for them to make the service book main dealer only. I always managed to get mine filled in just fine by the classic "local independent specialist", which is of course staffed entirely by former main dealer personnel

Surely the local MB stealership will print it out for you.
My book pack has a letter in it from a dealers with the dates and miles of the services on MB letterhead.

Its for the SEAT my Son-in-Law won. Hopefully, SEAT will email a summary page of services like MB give you, but by fook it makes selling a car more complicated than it needs to be. Dont get me wrong DSBs stop falsification and are a good thing, but for the private seller its a ballache, if you cant get a summary page of a cars service history.

DWP!
The wife quit her job.
Decided she should probably sign on. Which she did online.
Three days later she got a new job. She now needs to 'sign off'.
You can't do it online. You have to call them.
She gets 30 minutes for lunch, this isn't long enough to actually get through to them, they have so many call queuing and they're only open during working hours.

People whinging when a new Prime Minister gets elected by their party following a resignation, who get all uppity and start moaning they they didn't vote for the incoming person. FFS. That's how the fucking process works in this country.
It's a bit like the boring bloke in the pub who tells you that only 32.8576% of the UK population voted for the party in power at the last election, meaning that the majority didn't and thus it's undemocratic and they have no mandate, blah, blah, blah....
Fuck off!!
