When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Again taking advantage of the unexpected day off and clear roads.
A bit more exploring around Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire.
Definitely getting cooler, needed the heated grips today with my summer gloves, then got caught in a few showers heading home.
I did manage to find somewhere for a coffee and lovely bit of Lemon Drizzle Cake.
Got a pick for the riding challenge ‘near a ploughed field’ but was beaten to it, so I’ll drop it here instead.

I went out on my Suzuki for 3 hours today, Sudbury, Haverhill, Diss, Framsden and back home.
Roads were lovely and quiet, but feck me, there's some pot holes and bad surfaces in Suffolk's roads, the area South of the A14 seems to be worse than North of the A14, but neither are good.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
I put the shits up (I hope) an ADV rider today.
I had a fair lick on approaching a right hander and looked over the sea wall as I always do,to check for oncoming. I clocked a car coming the other way and two Starbux rangers behind. The lead bike decided it was a good idea to overtake the car on (for him) the left hander. By the time he was halfway past the car and in the middle of my side of the road,he eventually saw me barrelling towards him. I like to think he learned from that one the easy way.

Back in the days I had my Dominator, I'd have a crack at some of those... fine when it was dry... not so clever when it was a bit damp!

The Monster went to a garage for the winter today. Well, till June at the earliest I think
Half good and half bad - definitely better for my shoulder and I'll stop stressing about how much it hurts and that riding more isn't making things stronger. But I'm gonna miss riding
Anyway - didn't want to stop on the road for a photo with Mont Blanc in the background (only places to do that aren't ideal stopping points!!) so went into a car park
First photo, you can just about see Mont Blanc in the background, just (she's the only mountain in view with snow on!!)! Second isn't a particularly good shot, but The mountain is clearer :D

I want to see Ajlog trying to jump a barbed wire fence.

Tis a Scrambler innit, it’s meant to be up high so it doesn’t get clogged up with mud during my adventures.
I can often be found clambering over fences when caught short these days.

Rode up to Flash's in Melle last week, taking the western route over the Pyrenees via Valcarlos on the Spain/France border. So good I took it on the way back home too.
Roads across Aragon are superb, well surfaced, empty of other traffic, and therefore fast.

And how is Grandmaster Flash? What's he riding these days?

Still on his GS1200. He broke his collarbone in a crash in June, but not fully fit yet, despite physio.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 1:33 pmAnd how is Grandmaster Flash? What's he riding these days?
House up for sale, so could have been the last in Melle. He and Violette are looking to move further north, where he will continue to do his Tours (once he susses out the routes).
No rain and no crashes either. Surely something went wrong?

Leaving Melle will be the end of any era. I imagine it's time to just do the tours and let someone else do the lodgings, Violette must be fed up with all of that unless they did get some help in to do the laundry, cooking etc!
We must have been lucky, 3 trips, no rain no crashes and only one major mechanical failure* (It's been a while, he had the 1100GS in those days and something else in between that and the 1200).
* Someone's brand new 1200GS auto-destructed the final drive.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
My fifth (?) visit I think. Did one with the Visordown lot, two flew home with broken bones, and two bikes repatriated. Although why insurance companies see the point of repatriating bikes that are smashed to pieces back to the UK still amazes me.
Went on another one where a rider hit a car head on, and his Triumph broke into three pieces. One piece of which span into my 'Blade and knocked me over. The rider sprained his thumb and was concussed. Very lucky bloke
indeed. He and Violette are not getting any younger, and to cater for 14 people must be a real strain on them both. I wouldn't be able to cope-can barely manage when I get two visitors myself

Very lucky rider!
Were you on the tour with the dead cow incident?
I think Violette deserves a break. Tony has the easy part...if he stays upright.

Day off, a little crisp but sun shining and mostly dry roads;

There'll not be many more decent days this year,so it would be rude not to.
