It’s not bloody touring cars, no way to predict what the outcome would be,even if you were dense enough to try it in the first place.
Come on. Rossi dumped folk when it suited him. Been going on forever.
I saw it when I was racing.

I personally haven’t seen it from racing but the evidence is pretty damning. Like I said previously I’m not entirely sure whether it was deliberate or not purely because we will never know and you can never prove so.

But I also believe that “would he really”……….I mean how risky, chances are he takes himself down as well, but desperate folk in desperate situations will do desperate shit, I’m on the fence purely because we will never know, all I know is the footage looks pretty bad, like was said by someone else it’s almost as if he’s done it deliberately covering it up as a racing incident.

I would never argue that that racers at all levels end up taking others out, be it through genuine mistakes, poor judgment or just desperation, but to decide to deliberately plough into another bike in the hope he crashes and you don’t ?
That I find hard to believe.

I've watched it a fair few times now and I don't believe the intention was to nerf him off.
Yes, it was definitely a risky move, but it was by no means assured that it would end the way it did- as anyone who's done that sort of thing knows, the decision is made in a split second and so many overtakes are a gamble.
Yep, they're top-level and should (and will) know better than any of us just how risky it is or isn't when the decision is made, but it's a gamble.

And as for JR's comments on Rinaldi- - didn't come across as a whinge to me, accurate and justified

All I'll say after years of watching WSB is that Rea has a history of passes where he comes from way back and occupies the same bit of track as the rider he's trying to pass... "making his apex" by bouncing someone else off it.

Magny-Cours WorldSBK: ‘He’s not trying to touch Alvaro Bautista, just to pass him’ - Toprak Razgatlioglu defends Jonathan Rea

https://www.crash.net/wsbk/news/1012255 ... efends-rea

As the fallout from last weekend’s chaotic Magny-Cours WorldSBK round continues, Toprak Razgatlioglu has jumped to the defence of Jonathan Rea.

While the reigning WorldSBK champion might have come to the defence of his title rival, Ducati’s criticism of Rea has been loud and clear following the incident that resulted in Alvaro Bautista crashing out.

In case you missed it, Rea and Bautista came to blows in race two when the Kawasaki rider made an aggressive lunge to the inside of the Ducati rider at turn 14.

Bautista, who remained on the racing line, was then hit by Rea who clattered into the Spaniard’s right leg.

Speaking about the incident, Razgatlioglu added: "Now I’ve watched the video. It’s difficult because this is racing, everybody is trying their best.

"Jonny [Rea] tried passing at turn 13. In the Superpole Race, I passed Alvaro at the same corner. The other corners, Ducati is very strong, and the acceleration is unbelievable.

"It’s not possible to pass Alvaro again, just turn 13. Jonny tried at this corner. Maybe he made a mistake, maybe not; I don’t know.

"He’s not trying to touch Bautista, just to pass him, but he crashed. I think he’s not happy about this."

Magny-Cours WorldSBK: Alvaro Bautista: Jonathan Rea 'not a real champion… I have no interest in his apologies'

Alvaro Bautista has continued his criticism of six-time WorldSBK champion Jonathan Rea after the pair's dramatic race two clash at Magny-Cours.

Bautista, who called Rea's aggressive turn 14 manoeuvre which resulted in the WorldSBK championship leader crashing out 'intentional', has doubled down on his claims that Rea knew what he was doing and that it was not a mistake. . . . .

Yeah,I think there may be meaning lost in translation.

"I think he showed today that he’s very fast. He wins, the last few years not as much as before, but I think this kind of action is not proper for a champion".

“He won many championships, but it’s an unacceptable manoeuvre coming from a rider like him".

That seems to suggest JR's behaviour was unbecoming for a champion, rather than saying he's an unworthy champ.

The article is over a week old too, btw,Alvaro may have cooled his jets a little by now.

Fogarty has publicly admitted he tried to take out John Kocinski during a WSB race .......... it completely backfired and Fogarty ended up going off the track himself ;)

I have watched the JR/AB collision a few times and looks, to me, like a simple mistake by Rea rather than a deliberate "take out" despite Alvaro's quite emotional "it was deliberate and intentional" post race interviews

Wasn't there an incident in the last couple of years where one rider grabbed another rider's front brake?

Not quite deliberately ramming, but unpredictable consequences.

Romano Fenati, in Moto2 in 2018. He got a two race ban and was dropped by the team.

I've got zero time for Rea, for someone who has won multiple world championships, he seems to constantly play the victim, at best, no class, at worst, a moaning twat.
I don't think he planned to shunt AB but I reckon when he realised he'd over-cooked it, Bautista was his safety net to stay upright.
He should have been black flagged but I'd put him at the back of the grid for the next full length race.
