The Wire

Breaking Bad

Sopranos
Hello Davy, I have arrived after difficulties registering!
Anyway,
I was fan of the Wire back in the dya when it was on TV. Nowadays my must-see is any of the versions of NCIS. I started with the original and then got into the Los Angeles one but now love the New Orleans series. All of them have great characters, excellent scripts and a lot of wit, standing-jokes. My wife's best friend is a big fan cos' she loves Mark Harmon. Me , I reckon the plain NCIS- series did have the most beautiful female on TV until they killed the character off. Character name was ZIVA, played by Chilean actress Cote de Pablo. Ziva is funny as well, a stunning- looking lady but playing a MOSSAD- agent and with deadly ninja-skills. When some bad guys try it on, but never ends well for them. Ho-ho!!

Cheers Skub, see you around here...
Yo Hawks. Glad you made it man.

Here was me thinking 'All Creatures Great and Small' would be top of your watching list.

The Prestige. Never heard of it until a couple of people mentioned it on here. Thoroughly enjoyable film! So many twists and turns I'm still not sure of the ending lol, but as there wasn't a sequel I assume t was what I thought! :?

Watched The Good Place again.

Also second series of The Umbrella Academy which in my opinion wasn’t quite as good as the first.

Ho-ho! I have read the books but did not watched many episodes on the TV. Been there done that so... why bother? I am a personal friend of Peter Wright who is the vet who now owns/runs the ex-Herriot practice in Thirsk and as a result heads the TV programme the "Yorkshire Vet". . We were at college together and we all knew him as the chap who worked with Mr Herriot in university holidays. Pete comes across extremely well on the programme and just as nice and charming as he did when was as a student to be honest. I can now taunt him that he is now a professional Yorksireman these days. Annika is a friend of his wife Lynn on Facebook as well.
Cheersmate...

Just watched again with Mrs Y :)

When I watched it alone, I was supping a few cold 'uns and assuming the film would come to me. So, I did forewarn Mrs Y and she paid attention the whole way through. She did ask for a few scenes to be repeated, as she missed the little bits. She did grasp most of the stuff before the end. And she did enjoy it.

I actually enjoyed watching it a second time, as there were lots of little bits that I missed. I prefer easy watching.

Lots of films nowadays make the viewer concentrate really hard. I've turned many off when it gets like that. I just like a film to come to me.
Entertain me, not test me.

Knives Out. An Agatha Christie style whodunnit which got better as it went on and at the same speeds as Daniel Craig and his stupid accent became more annoying. Quite enjoyable reallly.

These are my recommendations.

Dirty John (Psychological about John, and how he manipulates women, and what he ends up doing to them) scary stuff, and I believe this was based on a true story
Orphan Black (the lead actress plays ALL the clones, and she's bloody brilliant at it too) very interesting, scary and compelling
Better call Saul (this is the pre-cursor to Breaking bad before Jimmy aka Saul and his journey to becoming Saul) it's funny, moving and the stuff he gets up to. lol.
Homeland (8 seasons) CIA based drama and bloody brilliantly acted/written
Schitts Creek (hilarious about a family that go bust, and move to a town that they bought called Schitts Creek)

I'll probably add a few more whenI remember then.

Someone here recommended Mandalorian - she gave it to me but in French and it was to quick for me. Since got it in English and blooming loved it!! Baby Yoda is soooooo cute!!!

Got some binge watching of the original NCIS to do (have seen the start of the new series, but think I need to catch up with previous ones first

Started the day with the new Lucifer season - lightweight and weird, but fun :)

Ozark is brilliant. Did all three series over a couple of weeks at the beginning of lockdown and it's ruined anything else that I've tried to get into.

Currently getting on quite well with Away.
Its a Netflix series about a mission to Mars.
It's not perfect but still quite good.

Oh and The Boys on Amazon.
Kind of superhero thing but its more like Watchmens flawed people that Marvels heroes/villans.

And its graphic, not for kids.

The Boys is ace, great relief from the regular superhero stuff that we're saturated with recently
