Show Ponies

Post by Le_Fromage_Grande »

If you were to have a motorcycle just to show at motorcycle shows what would it be and why?

I've already got my Kawasaki and I own it because I wanted one when I was 18.

It would have to be a Kawa triple.

The early white H1,or maybe the blue H2,or maybe a red S2.....

But I doubt I'll ever make the effort.

A mate has a YZF750 that has Norton bodywork, it's been to a few shows, personally I think he's ruined a really nice YZF.

Dunno. It would have to be something that I'd ride to and from the show...as an absolute minimum. Preferably something that gets used regularly and gets primped for the shows.

Mocking and gentle abuse is always available for those who arrive at a show from less than 50 miles* away with a road-bike bike on a trailer.

For me - I've 'got' one already - the JAPton, it just hasn't made it into my garage yet for fettling and recommisioning.

* I accept that some bikes are simply not capable of being ridden certain distances, most Harleys for example.

The Bonneville has been shown at something or other at the NEC. My FiL took it to a 50th Anniversary meet and someone collared him there and asked to show it at the NEC.

Not sure why, it's miles from original!

It definitely wouldn't be a concours rebuild or even a restomod.

Something unique and groovy. Enough to remove the pants of the groovy chicks and rile up the bearded giffers.

Unless my numbers drop in and i decided to have a collection I couldn't see this happening. Cant see the point of something cluttering up the place and costing money to sit there. That said, the amount of times I've nearly hit buy it now or have been outbid on some misty memory bike is worrying! But, if I play along, a 2 smoke something or other from the 70/80s.
