Email received this afternoon, sent at 14:08:
"Your latest monthly statement for your ... Credit Card ending xxxx is now available in Online Banking..."

No it wasn't. And it still isn't.

It'll probably be available tomorrow and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter, but is it too much to expect that when the bank tells me something, it's actually, you know, true?

If it's not going to be available till tomorrow, why not send the email tomorrow?

The bastard rain!! I know we need rain etc etc etc, but it's been dry for months and the one day I REALLY want to head out and do stuff on the bike and it rains. I did go out earlier but only because I'm not up in the resort!! Less downhill to do in the wet!
But there's a band playing up at home tonight that I'd love to go and see, but don't want to risk riding downhill in the dark And the wet Might be a little too much sticking a finger up at the universe for today!!

Talking of 'Elf 'n Safety Nazis, has anyone tried to open a plastic box of washing pods? (Yes, I know, should be on Mumsnet)

Fuck me, it is difficult, and must be nigh-on impossible for an oldie with arthritis. My version required me to snap off a central lock tab, which refused to snap, and then operate two corner latches at the same time. Since I did not have 3 hands I ripped the entire lid, catches and frame off, again impossible for an old lady, with or without arthritis. All to save a hypothetical kiddywinky living with a congenitally stupid parents who cannot keep kids and poisonous stuff apart - like wot we did, and our parents did before us.

Everytime I see an advert for washing powder saying "don't let you kid play with these" (Or something like that) I think FFS, why would you let your kid play with washing pods

Then I remember that some people I knew through work ended up with their daughter (toddler age I think) in hospital from playing with, biting and ingesting clothes washing liquid.

They actually when to the manufacturer (Bold I think) and complained that the stuff caused their child to be hospitalized. Even then I was shocked that anyone could blame the manufacturer when it should be obvious that children and cleaning products should be kept separate??

I remember when I used to work at a big UK PLC and I was in a meeting with all the senior people and the head of SHEQ.
He waxed on about his new initiatives and in the end he said that we all have to make everything completely idiot proof so we could achieve zero accidents.

I blotted my copy book by shouting out loud that we should simply stop employing idiots.

One thing I do note from being outside the UK and looking in, is that the public seem to be dumbed down all the time, even things like UK TV adverts speak to you like you're a child. You don't notice it until you have a few years without UK TV and then you turn it on.

I've been to places in India (for example) where electricity boxes are open and bare connections are right there, at child level, but even the children know not to touch them, whereas in the UK there would be a pile of dead bodies around it.

20 - 30 - 40 years ago people had to take responsibility for their actions. Now there's always an arsehole solicitor wanting to make a name for themselves by suing "the big bad company".
