bizarre!! computer behaviour.....possibly.

Post by IOU0 »

My ageing fujitsu has had a couple of hissy fits lately.
Firstly woulnt recognise drive c, then no bios boot.
So i stared at it, tapped the top of the tower, as you do, nothing.
Pulled all the leads from the MB and got a blower in, nothing.
Pulled all the ram, and just replaced 1. Bingo.
Put the rest in 1 by 1 and all is well again.
Is this a sign of impending doom, or just normal computer behaviour these days?

I was once told that ram with connectors made of a different material to those in the sockets, with the small amount of current passing through them can over very long periods develop some corrosion... and reseating them scrapes it off.

Yes, back in the day when I did desktop support reseating the RAM was about the first thing to try when a computer suddenly stopped booting up.
