How many leisure motorcycle miles are you going to do this year?
I think I'm going to do at least 6000 miles on the Suzuki this year, this will be all leisure miles, I don't ride to work, is this a lot, it doesn't feel it to me, if anything I feel like I should be riding more.
I just wonder because there seem to be a lot of old bikes for sale with low mileages, either people buy bikes and don't ride them, or they're disconnecting the speedo.

They don’t ride them. My mate does about 800 miles between MOTs. I don’t think this is unusual.
I’ve gone from a regular 20k a year to about 6-7, even that’s a mix of work and leisure.

I've done 2.5k on the GS since May.
1800 miles of that was one trip.
The Enfield has done about 50 miles and the GSXR1100 has done zero this year.

I've got 3 bikes that have done 0 miles since I bought the Suzuki, though one of them is in bits, one's a show pony and the other is in a corner being ignored.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 9:26 pm I've done 2.5k on the GS since May.

It's 2 years since the start of this month since I bought my bike. There's just over 14k on the odo,so that's an even split of 7k.
Given I don't use the bike for anything other than pleasure miles, nor do I ride on salty roads in Winter, that's not bad.
I'd hate to calculate the fuel bill for going nowhere,though....

Both of them have done just shy of 1000 between MOTS - all leisure riding - did mean to do a wales trip but had to cancel at the last minute

Dunno, no idea what's on the odo now let alone what it was at the start of the 'season' I tend to leave the display on 'range' and can't remember whan I looked at the mileage.
I'll ride it when I fancy and as far as I fancy without any thought as to the cost per mile or deprecation or resale value because quite frankly they don't bloody matter one jot.

Probably less than 100 miles.
One bike I had from new cost me £1ish per mile in depreciation alone.

None. Bikes are for transport, not leisure.

Done about 1800 so far, but September has a planned trip that will rack up about 4000 at least, and then maybe another 700 or so before the weather gets too bad. So roughly 6500 and maybe a few more.

Re: How many leisure motorcycle miles are you going to do this year?
With my Sep trip to the SW I should be at 3k for the year. Not bad, but not great, feel like I should do more.
As for low mileage bikes my Dad bought his Fazer in 2006 and has 10k miles on it. Some years he does 100 miles between MOTs.
Not worried about mileage too much on the GSX, I bought it to enjoy and it'll never be mega mileage cos I don't use it enough but even higher mileage ones aren't cheap yet and the bike was a bargain to begin with.

Re: How many leisure motorcycle miles are you going to do this year?
About 2000 in a year, nearly a thousand miles in one tour, plus around 750 on the Vespa, so just shy of 3000. I'd ride more, but do 5000 plus miles on my road bicycles and that's more than the car if I combine all two wheel mileage over the year.

I'm proper hardcore
I just got back from a 40 mile ride, I'd have been out longer but it was a little cold and my left foot still hurts a bit, I'm now watching the telly with a nice cup of coffee.
