When a rounded off Allen bolt turns a 15 minute job into an hour long, frustrating and expensive, swear-fest.
So that'll be a new hand guard, washer, weight and Allen bolt. Sir declined the offer of a complimentary shit ton of thread lock such as was in the first allen bolt. Forty-odd sheets to you, sir.
Still....the new clutch lever went on in 2 mins. That only cost a score.
Mind you, bored shitless sat at home, so it's given me something to do.

This morning the gate was open, which was strange.Yorick wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 5:03 pmA pal found one in a new ferreteria in the big city. I'd never been before coz it looks small from the front.
But mahoosive inside.
And they had the paint I've been trying to find.
I'll be heading back there when I have more time for a proper perusal. These places take more money off me than Penny spends on shoes

Then this afternoon I was working on the garden and heard the usual squeak of the gate opening but nobody about.
The wheel is now so speedy that the howling wind blew the bloody thing open. It's a huge steel thing

Farking BBC.
I love stuff like Commonwealth Games and watch loads of stuff.
But yesterday I was busy so watched the highlights prog.
10 mins triathlon. 5 mins chat.
30 seconds cycling. 10 mins cast with Sir Chris Hoy.
30 seconds swimming. 10 minute chat with Rebecca Adlington.
30 seconds gymnastics. Uk gold but saw fark all. 10 mins chatting.
Then 10 minutes looking forward to ladies rugby semi finals
WTF. An hour wasted.
The last Olympics was same. 95% chat. Little action. Luckily Eurosport do a good highlights with no chat.
Today I found the times of the good stuff so will watch on catchup with FF going

Outlook and it’s passwords! Got told by IT to change my password and I followed the OWA password guidelines but it wouldn’t accept anything and now it’s locked my account so I’m logged out of my pc. I was busy too! Ho hum!

You're obliged to phone I T and rage at them like it's their fault. (A) they're used to it (B) it probably is their fault.
Obviously it's never your fault.
IT will mark it down as your fault.
I work in IT so it's doubly worse when I act like a pratt and need someone to blame.

After footy and bike racing I've always loved athletics coz I ran ok.
But love Olympic games and Commonwealth games
Watched it all week and the fitness and dedication is awesome. Cycling, swimming and gymnastics make you go WOW with their strength and world class ability.
But tonight they showed the men's team bowls. Fuck. 2 of them were so fat they couldn't bend down to pick the bowls up. There was a short break for chip butties, then they fell asleep.
Somehow these ex darts players won gold. Next year they're gonna go in the sumo wrestling

Travelling 2 hours across London for a pre-booked meeting only to find that the cnut that I'm supposed to be meeting isn't there and not picking up on my calls / texts, then as a final kick in the spuds had to buy an extra train ticket to get home as my ticket was for a specific time train.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I was at a bus stop today in Colchester, where I'm not familiar with the bus routes. I know buses go from there all over the town and I know where I want to go to catch my next bus. So I ask the driver "Do you go to Osborne Street?"
He taps on his screen then says "Card or cash?" I show him my bus pass and he points to the reader so I oblige by putting the card on the reader and take my ticket. Then as I make my way down the bus he calls after me "You'll need to get off on the High Street and walk down."
Twat. When somebody asks if you go somewhere and you don't go there, the correct answer is "No"
I got to Osborne Street just in time to see the bus I wanted pulling away.

The Council working on the Cycle Track.
I had a letter come through ages ago warning me that they will be working on the Cycle Track (My house borders the Cycle track) for 4 - 6 weeks and there could be excessive noise at normal 9-5 working hours.
You know, i had no problem with this at all, making the area better and all that, but they are working on straitening a corner that has been there for over 40 years and is now apparently dangerous, about 20 yards of tarmac!
They have been here for 14 weeks now. 14 Weeks of diggers, rollers, dumpers literally less than 10 foot from my gaff! - there are like 6 peeps here from 6.30am till 5pm (not fucking 9-5) waking me up for 4 months, straightening a 20 yard bit of an angle!
I swear this is another council spread out the time as much to make the most corrupt money possible job. Thank fuck i go on hols for 4 days on thurs, i wish i was at work now but this is my hols so this getting to my mental health!

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
If, five years ago, my colleagues were told that they could work from home one day a week, they'd have been cock-a-hoop. These days, ask them come in any more than once a week and they act like you've asked them for the fucking moon and stars.
Call me old-fashioned, but I think my team work better in the office, collaboratively, with other teams, face to face. My boss agrees, but then adds that because her role is 'different', she's only coming in one day a week, but she supports me in my efforts to get people back into the office. From home. Well that's fucking inspiring.
Ask HR for guidance (remotely, of course. They ain't coming in) and they simply state that they delegate it to the line managers to make that call, but repeat that management want people to be in the office 'the majority of the time'. That'll be me left holding that shitty stick then, trying to convince people to do something they don't want to do, at an additional cost and inconvenience, and basically saying, 'Well, why us and not everyone else?', for which I'm kinda stumped for any solid answer.

The only reason people will want to come into the office again is when they discover their job can be done by someone cheaper 100s of miles away.gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 3:07 pm If, five years ago, my colleagues were told that they could work from home one day a week, they'd have been cock-a-hoop. I had a chat with my bosses boss yesterday along the lines of 'I'm only still here because of the WFH arrangements', and my butt hole was twitching as there's nothing contractually that they have to stick to it above and beyond my contract which state I WFH 2 days a week.
Long story short there are no plans to go back to the 'old ways', Covid has proven to the tie wearers that 1 or 2 days a week in the office is plenty and work is still being done, clients are happy, staff are happy
