Almost ready - old codger on tour

Post by Cousin Jack »

I may have mentioned before that I was hoping to go off and explore the Balkans this year. Well, the trip is bought and paid for, topbox and panniers purchased and fitted, even a Critair sticker on the screen, and today I received all the info from the tour company. I have even downloaded my vaccination status thingy. All I have left to do is upload the route information to the Garmin, check the tyres and fill up with petrol

On 1st September I'm off to the Tunnel (that is a 310 mile trip all by itself)
On 2nd September I take le Tunnel sur la Manche to French France, en route to Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Italy and Belgium. All being well I return down the rabbit hole on 18th September, and finally get home to some time on the 19th.

Whee! I am just a little bit excited now.

Ah, pictures! I haven't quite got the hang of posting pics on RTTL yet. I had massive problems on TRC, having to cut them down in size or being told they were too big, and TBH I cannot be arsed to go through all that on a phone when I could be chilling and drinking beer.

Create an album somewhere that has a good app, like Flickr. Share a link to the album and just let us know when to recheck the album for new pics, sort the rest out when you get back.

Yeah, there must be pics or it didn't happen.

As KFB says,it's only a matter of opening an account on the likes of Flicker. Just share your phone pics to the app, then you can stick them anywhere on t'internet.

Im looking to stop at Lake Bled for two nights next year. Shame the campsite is the other side from the town Bled. Kind of hoping there is a bus service.

Organised tour, run by Magellan Motorcycle Tours. I toured Norway with them 3 years ago, so I am happy with them.

Honda CB500F. Absolutely amazing practical beast, on paper it is totally outclased, but today it kept up with a BMW1250 GS and a KTM 1290. On a track they would destroy it, but on the real road .........

I thought a fairing would be first choice for touring bike ?

Happy trails CJ.

(Not totally convinced that a CB500F couldn't hold its own against a BMW GS tbh. :D ).

...and most bikes spend about 4-8% of the year touring and 92-96% not. :D

Done Metz (well Fey actually), now on to Baden Baden. Tomorrow it is the B500, and on to Zell am Zee or thereabouts. No pics uploaded yet, must try harder.

CJ use https://imgbb.com/ for your pictures. It'll say start upload and click the button and it'll point to your photo albums. Tick the ones you want and then hit upload. Then it'll give you the option of viewers links. Click the drop down arrow and select BBcode fully linked and you'll see a little copy button appear. Click that and then hit paste or ctrl V your post and it'll drop links with all the tags etc. Job jobbed. Its even easier than it sounds and no need to drop images one at a time using the boards picture tags etc and work fantastically from aphone too.

Safe journey!
