POE switch / injectors
I need to power up at least 5 possibly 6 cameras via injectors or a switch with the following constraints:
4 cameras are wired back to a single place so I’m thinking a minimum of a 4 + 1 POE switch here
1 camera (possibly 2) are wired back to another location so I’m thinking a normal gigabit / 10/100 switch with 1 / 2 POE injector but I’m assuming each injector will need a separate 240v feed. Cost wise, might I be better with just another POE switch?
Cheers

Re: POE switch / injectors
Tp-link 5 port PoE switches are cheap as chips and work well enough.
Injectors are ok if you have a three pin socket somewhere near by, but Switches give you more options.

Yep, they're all shit. Joking aside, the only things to check is back plane speed and port speed, I doubt if any unmanaged switch has a published backplane speed

I'm sure that as long as the switch has POE ports he will be fine, it's just a house setup! The cheaper POE switches are designed for just this scenario are they not?Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 4:37 pmYep, they're all shit. I would try and wire back everything to 1 central POE switch if you can. POE Injectors are a pain to hide cables in houses and take up your power sockets!
