@weeksy Look at the Fiat Scudo and Citroen Dispatch also. They are the same van and including the Expert have a higher top version. I say Hi top but its probably only an extra foot but may make for a softer lump when you bang your head changing your kit

The more i think the more i lean towards 2 options.

1. Stick with the QQ
2. Go for a decent sized van, transit, vivaro etc...

The rest of my options, well they're seeming a bit pointless in many ways as said. Part of my wants to get away from the diesel side of things, but the only way i could do that is to go car... If going down the car route, i may as well keep the QQ

Dono about your area but we have a lot of self storage places round about. The trailer option could work well if you have one local. I can store a camper from 50 quid a month i am sure you can store a trailer for less

Have you considered something like this with a lift kit and AT tyres... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115453427149 ... Swg0li1QXB

Heh, yeah but think of the possibilities... You've got room in there for a track bike and a load of room to get changed. You could move the seats around as you like. You could get loads of mtb bikes in there if you wanted to do a group trip. You've got room for bikes and to build bunks if that's useful and tons of room for kit.

I was considering something like this until I measured the room I had on the drive.

It's an asset.

The cost to you is what you lose if you sell it.

Ignore the 'purchase' price, buy a nice 20k Vito or a VW.

Sell it in 3 years time and lose a grand, it's then cost you a grand and whatever servicing, etc, you've done.

Of course this relies on you having the funds for the initial purchase, maybe Potter could become a loan shark :)
There is no 'lose a grand' though is there, not in the real world these days, there's lose 3-4 of them. Minimum, not forgetting how much you've had to put into it too. I do understand and I do need a vehicle, but there's 'how much' I'm ok to lose that i need to factor into this one too.

BIcycles i rarely lose on, motorbikes i've had many good turnarounds and a few not so good, but both of these things are a passion, a hobby and i don't mind throwing some money in... But cars/vans, they're just a functional form of transport, but this one at the moment needs to perform certain tasks, hence the consideration for change. But i can't go into it knowing i'll be buying something that'll lose loads... Freeing up the budget would techincally be possible... but it's simply not happening, i'm not lobbing £20k into this... I was being brave to myself considering £10,000.... doubling that, i simply can't do it my head/maths.

Last night after @dern posted an Expert i found this one.

Which looks great and is low miles.. It's the sort of van after a few years you'd be unlikely to lose much on as it's such low miles... So i think that'd do well... motorbikes are a VERY tight squeeze..but it's only 3-4 times a year and only an hour up the road to Silverstone. So we could make it work.
But i am still sitting here thinking "what does it give me over a car".... With a decent sized van i can jump in and get changed into/out my riding kit when it's muddy... With the Expert... maybe, just... but not sure it really works for that.
In terms of security the van ticks the boxes, but we do Premier Inns for our nights away, which are fine with putting bikes in the rooms, so it's 5 mins each morning loading them up onto the rack....

Errrrrrm Not sure any of that is much use really is it lol..
You can get changed in the expert easily enough unless you like to windmill as you do it or swing cats round ffs :)

I'd love that, but it's a bit unnecessary for the 5 times a year I'd use it

So the expert and the mid-sized vans are out.... Went down to view the one at Anchor and in simple terms, the back of the van isn't bad, but the front 3 seats are not for 3 humans. 2 sure, no worries... 3 is just a big no. We may not always need 3... but we sure will at times. So that's out of the game.

We're now down to 3, in order of preference.

1. Qashqai
2. Transit/Vivaro/etc.
2. Stepwagon, although now i've debated it i don't see the point, i wouldn't leave the MTBs in there over-night at hotel etc... so whether it's on a rack outside or inside the rear cabin when driving, doesn't much matter. If i have to unload it anyway, what's the point.

the main problem with a van of this size is that they're less practical as a daily driver, particularly when you're trying to drive around and park in car parks.

I've had a brainwave! (Must be the heat :D ). It's the perfect solution for a fulfilled and happy life and is a variant on my go-to resolution of knotty conundrums.

1. Ask Mrs Weeksy what she thinks you should do.
2. Do that.

See? Perfectly analytical, simple, to the point, a veritable cutting of the Gordian knot. People pay good money for that sort of problem solving consultancy.
