Donington WSBK

Post by Skub »

This weekend,ladies.

JR to make a statement on his (kinda) home turf? Past form shows the Duc to struggle at the circuit,no wins since 2011,but that must end sometime.

Toprak like it,so he ought to be in contention. Any other predictions outside the usual three?

And mega-scorchio weather, if the forecasts are to be believed. So tyres, then.

As above tyres will be crucial, hopefully Toprak can knock out 3 wins and reduce the deficit.

Is Donington especially hard on tyres?

The more I think about it, the more I reckon the heat will play into Bautista's hands, tyre wise. He's appreciably lighter than JR or TR, which helps tyre life and he has a demonstrably faster bike so doesn't need to push his tyres quite as hard to maintain race pace. He's also now developed race smarts so he can read the race situation far better than in 2019. The only unknown (to me, anyway) is how well he goes (or doesn't) at Donny.

If Hicky gets a top 10 it will be a great addition to his 2022 TT wins.

Can't remember last time it happened.

British wildcards not fairing too well. Bikes quite a bit different though.

Couple of comments from Toseland that McKenzie would smoke the WSB lot round cadwell, sure Redding would have something to say about that and for me the far fetched comment that Mcguiness would lose Rossi in 3 corners at the TT. Maybe if Roasi didn’t learn the course but if any of the worlds best MotoGP riders learned the course and wanted to do the TT they’d be faster than the current lot.

Not watched it yet but can’t argue with that, he’s on fire. Pleased to see Redding doing well, see what happens tomorrow.

James Toseland wasn’t holding back on Taz today 😲

He’ll be getting ripped into as usual on Twitter for that

He was going on about in his opinion it was a poor decision to accept the wildcard ride when he’s not at his best, and that when running over 2 secs back of the fastest time it’s a poor showing from what’s ultimately the best that the BSB has to offer when he’s the current champion, essentially making the BSB look shit, he slated him and the team for it.

He also said it would have made perfect sense to wait until he was running at the sharp end again because if he’s wanting to go to WSBK full time then no teams are going to be offering anything from what they are seeing just now.

TBH he has a point and the WSB paddock has spoken already by not having him there, BSB is prob my favourite championship but it’s not at WSB level

It depends how you look at it, he does have a point but I don’t think he went about it in the best way. But, it’s experience either way and these guys won’t miss an opportunity when it’s put in front of them, he probably feels he may have went better and tbh it’s only free practise 1 and 2 so far, not that I think he’s going to go any better but you never know.

He very much has a point yes. Whilst Taz may have the opportunity today, has he screwed up next year's chances. Sure the team managers are not daft and know he's got things to need to get used to, but it's hardly shouting "here, look at me, I'm ready" is it?

Just watching it the now, still 17 mins to go, I was not expecting those two to be at the top. I don’t think they’ll be in that position after superpole though.

It certainly looks like JR and TR have an excellent opportunity to claw some points back to Bautista. He seems stuck in 7th position and around seven tenths off the front runners. Just watch him get pole now...
