The white building that looks a bit like a control tower is Orford Sailing Club

I had some quality time with the 890 today, and on my travels passed this placeLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: Mon Jun 20, 2022 8:19 pm .................
Next your bike with anything linked to the Cold War

It's RAF Halton- There aren't any cold-war era planes on view and although I'm guessing pilots were still trained there in the cold war era I wasn't sure whether it really played any sort of role, and it's probably a bit tenuous, so on my way home I managed to snap a shot outside the entrance to Chequers without getting shot

This place does have a history of various UK and US leaders meeting there for secret summits post WW2 , and more publically Margaret Thatcher hosting Gorbachev there Christmas 1984, which some say was instrumental in kicking off the end of the cold-war as-was.

If that works, then next is your bike with a Japanese-style Pagoda in shot

You didn't say that when I had to take a Greek yogurt for a ride.

The Hunter is a Cold War aircraft as far as I'm concerned, they were flying over my house in the late 70s and early 80s, very distinctive sound.Tricky wrote: Tue Jun 21, 2022 9:12 pmI had some quality time with the 890 today, and on my travels passed this placeLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: Mon Jun 20, 2022 8:19 pm .................

I worked with a maintenance test pilot who described the engine as 'constant thrust, variable noise'.

If I google Suffolk Pagoda I get this
https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/orford ... rford-ness
I love a ride to Orford, I must have done at least 5 of these challenges with pictures from Orford, but it's not exactly Japanese

Japanese Pagoda still.
I think it's time from some executive input from Weeksy as pagodas aren't happening

I rode around Willen lake here in MK for ages on Monday trying to find somewhere I could get a shot of this with my bike in view, must have lapped the lake 3 times in various ways
No dice though.
First purpose built peace pagoda in the UK and the western hemisphere, as far as I know.

You're going to have to do a midnight trespass in the parkMr. Dazzle wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:11 am I rode around Willen lake here in MK for ages on Monday trying to find somewhere I could get a shot of this with my bike in view, must have lapped the lake 3 times in various waysNo dice though.

The ones at Orford are so far away you can barely see them In a photo, shame I haven't got a trail bike anymore, we used to ride right up to them 35 years ago (the MOD couldn't be arsed to chase us off, but English Heritage might be a whole lot more Nazi about it)
