Probably the greatest generation of riders, if you throw in Lawson and Gardner too. And not to forget eternal runner up Mamola.
There will be an argument that Rossi or Marquez were the best of all time (sorry, hate the GOAT expression), but it's doubtful that there was such a deep pool of talent around at the same time when either of those two were doing their winning.

Although Lawson was the first to win championships on 2 different manufacturers, and the only to win races on 3 different bikes (we're talking post 60's here btw)

Definitely wouldn't forget Freddie Spencer. Last rider to win two championships in different classes in the same year!
Saw him on his first visit to Brands at the Transatlantic... blown away by his speed on a circuit he'd never seen.
