After what he went through, occasional memory lapses are fairly minor.

Plug for his two vet books BTW, very good reads. And if you ask nicely, he'll sign them too.

S'OKAY, I'VE DOMNE THE EDIT/DELETION. APOLS to EVERYONE CONCERNED... blame my head injury. When your head goes, everything goes! Speaking of ewhich my super-consiultant Neurosurgeon at Hull wans to re-operate to try and sort out some ongoing problems. All being well this should get meback on my bike. In answer to weeksy below, I am temporarily advised not to pedal outside until my head is fixed again.
Especially as II now have a National Title to defend...: As described here in our local paper recently:

Might be wrong but if he was that bothered I doubt he'd link to his soundcloud, either that or being a bit elderly he just forgot. Could go either way I guess. ;)

Thank you very much! A lot odf people most especially my ConsultantNeurosurgeon have used that word Ispiration about me. Being old that by your own brain surgeon is inspiring in itself! After my accident he told my wife that I probably would not survive! but here I am. In fact after the induced coma of 11-12 days he, Grrry, woke me up and asked me what iwas like as a person? "Stubborn UI said, Ido not give up easily! "Tha's excellent it helps a lot on this WaRD [ = FOR BRAN-TRAUMA],, i n the future? I just said, !All I want to do is get back on my bike!! To his great credit and my literal undying gratitude He did NOT say don't be daft man, you cannot even atandup at the moment! NOPE, Gerry said Okay, Well of you want to get back on your bike? then I WILL GET YOU THERE!! In capitals because it was so important to me! He kept his word and though in hospital for 3.5 months and being discharged on 22nd Novemver 2012, by Fevruary I was out riding with a couple of clubmates who kept an eye on meto keep me safe! Then in Septeber2013 I was up for riding the Lincoln mini-GP sportive of 55 miles which I finished in 2 hours56 and Not a rtace?? really? I was 27th of 310 finishers with that time! Duringthismy clubmate Maurice RIP, said Blimey Julian it's gona take more than the little matter of your fracture skull to stop you trying to compete with everyone\\\\22  of course at my necxt check-up with 'gerry I had to pas on Maurice's coment anfd he burst out laughing!! "Little Matter??" Yo should be dead Man! people just do not survive your injuries!! So I guess Icount as one of hissuccsses? I gradually lost use of myleft sidein 2014 so applied and was accepted to competeas a Pars-cyclist! My first event, not being short of over-confidence was the Nataional Para- Time trial championship near Leicester. My wife rightly flagged me down after one lap of 9 miles becaeuse on theappalling road surface Icould notkeep the bike in a straight line. I would soo have veered/ clipped the kerb so crshing and damaging my best biokeso I was classed as a DNF! Not before down one stretch anotherriderunderyook meat great speed with no warning etc. and I nerly effed and blinded because you just do not do this!!If i ha to swerve wehere do I go/ Into oncoming trgffic?? ut afterwards I was glad Ibitmy tongue because this rider reogfnosed my club jersey and cameup to apologise! She, yes SHE! said sorry but she saw I as having trouble with my left sidehad left abig gap and just went through it!! Okay but this was nne otherthan DAME SARAH Storey!! So when she's on TV I can sy Look thereis my friend who tried to kill me in 2016!!

Ayway 2016 = a DNF ARESELUST, and in 2017 near |Chester I managed 11th in my Para-category but just outof the top ten . So I now had my target for thenext year. In Esse in 2018 I certainly got my trget by finishing 5th in my ategory. I can categorically saythat having aimed for hat or similar for 12 monthseven 5rhwas the most pleasing result of my cycle-racing |"life!!" My first event was August 1980 near Harrogate so that's a lotof eventsN?
When I told gerry he was genuinely as pleased as I was! Then in the Brecon VBeaconsin 2019I was top-ten again but down to th place. After hathis thing called COVID wiped out all racing until 2021. n the champs last yearI got 5th again, not as good as the first time but it will do!! Plus I aimed fr the National Para-cycling Time trial Series with poinsawarded for your position . I came 11st in thefirstonein Maty end won the second in Leeds and those points gave me the Series Title! I never expected to hold aNational Title in my beloved sport! Especially not at my senior age!!
Our local paper featured measa result:

Thanks for reading...!

I meant to includethat last July Gerry himself called me his own personal Ispiration which is a helluva compliment from ore's brain surgeon!
He has a laminated copy of the Newspaper Artcle hersruck on the wall of the Consulytant's General Office so he can say proudly," That's one of mine!!" So he said recently. He is a splended chap isGerry. Officially my hero but he just credits his staff with doing all the hard work!! :o
