I much prefer gravel bikes with wider tyres for road riding.
When I wrote off my last road bike, a Mason Definition, I never bothered replacing it.
I've got a Bokeh gravel bike that I've had for about three or four years and it's been my road bike throughout. It's done Alps trips, the Cingles challenge and a few Classics sportives and I've never thought I needed a proper road bike instead.
I've just bought a new gravel bike.

Tried a road bike a few years ago but didn't like it. Too uncomfortable.

Much happier with this thing which I'm likely to use far more often as a result.

I was very cynical about the whole gravel bike trend until I tried one and found it made road riding much more comfortable but also meant I could ride easy single track and paths too.
