Re: TT live pass
Whilst the speeds and shapes the riders are pulling now make it look more dangerous I couldn't help but think looking back at the early TTs in the early 1900s that's it's probably no more dangerous at all, maybe even less so. Back then some of the roads weren't actually proper roads, the bikes were shit with no brakes, shit tyres and the riders wore piss pots and leather mostly but some were in boiler suits or cricket jumpers! and for the equipment they were tramping on some. I think the 1929 Senior set a 77mph average. No air ambulance etc either. Some of the pics and footage from the 1920's etc is terrifying.

Yeah a gentleman and a character. RIPwull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 06, 2022 9:41 pm I just heard Davy Morgan passed away after an incident on the last lap of the supersport race earlier on today. Absolutely gutted, been following Davy since the beginning, that pink helmet! I’d see his name all the time mentioned in the Road Racing Ireland magazine and on the tele. It’s a cruel sport, but they all love it.

Re: TT live pass
I’ve just seen the statement that’s been released with regards to the sidecar incident, misidentification of who had passed away at the scene, wow! I know mistakes can happen but that must be devastating for the families when you think your loved one is still alive, and then turns out they aren’t. The other rider is still in a critical condition.

In all honesty, thats a bloody disgrace. Doesn't someone have to id the body or the injured. Family or pit crew surely.

Back in the day we wore dogtags with name, dob etc.
I'd assume that's still a thing now

Yeah still the same. You’re meant to get checked when the bike goes for scrutineering, there were times when I’d forget mine and I’d throw someone else’s on just to get through it.

Re: TT live pass
Plenty of rider's hit stuff at the TT,my mate who used to race there said the worst for him was a stone getting flicked up & hitting his knuckles flat out on Sulby straight.Could be a lot worse though, oncoming course car, wandering marshall, spooked pony, hare getting under the front of the sidecar & sending it into a wall There's no place like it..Skub wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 12:38 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/northern-ireland/61745657

Re: TT live pass
I've just been reading on Friendface, apparently it wasn't as simple as checking dog tags or names in leathers. I don't have the details only 3rd hand reports of Marshalls never seeing anything like it before, but it sounds like a very very messy accident and it was a very easy mistake to make getting the rider and passenger confused.wull wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 12:23 pm I’ve just seen the statement that’s been released with regards to the sidecar incident, misidentification of who had passed away at the scene, wow! It must of been an horrendous scene, but surely if they were uncertain then wait.

Re: TT live pass
Just heard on Manx Radio the incident is after Bray Hill, hope it’s not the same situation as Saturday. The Sideys were all over the place at Agos. Fingers crossed for those involved.

Re: TT live pass
I hit a seagull on a GS Thou at about 70 and it smashed the big glass headlight like it was a sherry glass. I wouldn't like to get a 160mph bird onto a few mm of perspex.Skub wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 12:38 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/northern-ireland/61745657
