Chippy has been here all day fitting the wood and making smaller shelves for glasses.
Now to stain it all

The wood is getting to the colour we want.
Maybe I should build it in my mancave

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
It set off very orange. But 4th coat is now nearly red enough. One more coat then 2 pack varnish.

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
The pal who did my welding earlier is owner of my fave pub, Chispas. It was my dad's local so I kept the family tradition going
I've taken a few from here to the pub, including @gremlin who giggled at the prices
Anyway he presented me with this amazing sign today. The intricacy of the number 2 in the dot is amazing.
I'm so chuffed
He's also same lad who got me into enduro and made me a superb sign from lava for my man cave
The wood is carved out to leave the letters. He's got a 3d CNC wood carving machine.

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
My mate Hippy is a perfectionist and wanted the wood perfect. 5 coats of stain till we got the right colour, then 3 coats of 2-pack varnish

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
Within a week and that included building all the units on site and the required additional electrical work! Funnily enough I've just booked my mate to fit a new bathroom and he reckons that will take a week as well!

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
Its good to find a trade like that. We've wanted a new bathroom for ages but my mate can't do it until November, but I won't use anyone else as he is a perfectionist too.

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
I think my memory is playing tricks with me. I remember as a kid lots of pics around the pool room in pubs with dogs playing pool and poker. Sure there were 6 or so in each set, but can only find one of each.
I'd love a set of each.
Is my brain shot ?

Re: Help Me Build A Bar
I remember a pub pool room that had pictures around it with different types of drunks. I only remember the gin drinking women one.
