Yup, that's the truth. Despite the fact we sometimes have doubts, we're bikers and like bikes. Riding them just makes us like them even more and that then sways the mind to keeping.

Re: 790 Duke -
Had that exact thought at the weekend. Have been so close to calling the dealer to talk about moving over to a Street Triple, then after a few hours on the Trident I was reminded how much fun I have on that.

I'm sure a ST will be a lot of fun, but I guess if the Trident is still pushing the right buttons then you're all good...for now at least... one day you'll make that call and then it'll be unstoppable!

That is lovely! Surprised it hasn't sold? Bit early in the season maybe? Weather might be putting the fair weather bikers off?Numnut wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 10:04 am Ok cool, cheers... here's the eBay ad..

Not sure why these don’t sell well other than people wanting the 890 I’ve almost decided my 790 is a keeper I’ve spent a small fortune on it and with nearly 13k miles on it it must be worth nothing
It is a brilliant bike tho.

Re: 790 Duke -
Yep they are brilliant bikes (writing this is convincing me to keep it…) the 890 doesn’t help really nor does the KTM policy of heavily discounting models! some people seem to prefer the 790 over the standard 890… I’ve only had a little ride on a standard 890 and it was fine, smoother at slower speeds but otherwise much the same.
With 13k I’m sure someone would offer you 3k and make it seem like they were doing you a favour!

Ktm reduced the price of the 790 a week after I bought mine.Numnut wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 9:47 pmYep they are brilliant bikes (writing this is convincing me to keep it…) the 890 doesn’t help really nor does the KTM policy of heavily discounting models! some people seem to prefer the 790 over the standard 890… I’ve only had a little ride on a standard 890 and it was fine, smoother at slower speeds but otherwise much the same.

Re: 790 Duke -
I did approx 7k miles on my 790 and am on my second 890R now and agree with both these sentiments- my personal view is that the bit of extra engine that the 890 gives you really isn't that significant over the 790 which is still an absolute cracker of a motor- the main improvements are in the suspension and brakes, on the R anyway- dunno about the regular 890, as haven't ridden oneNumnut wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 9:47 pmYep they are brilliant bikes (writing this is convincing me to keep it…) the 890 doesn’t help really nor does the KTM policy of heavily discounting models! some people seem to prefer the 790 over the standard 890… I’ve only had a little ride on a standard 890 and it was fine, smoother at slower speeds but otherwise much the same.

Re: 790 Duke -
The lever felt nicer on the loan 890 I had, but that’s about it. I probably went about 5 miles to work and back, in the wet through 30 limits…not the greatest test ride!
I’m thinking of binning the eBay ad. If I sell it, I’ll have about 2.5k to buy something else. That’s not getting me much at all, an old blade or zx6r. I’m not sure it’d be worth it!

Re: 790 Duke -
Looks like it’s off to a new home on Wednesday…
Honestly can’t decide whether to get a cheap bike or a slightly more fancy full-sus mtb. I’ll see how Wednesday goes and take it from there
