Sortof ruins the Prince song :SDYorick wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 1:53 pmI only found out yesterday, that doves and pigeons are basically the same thing.636mick wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2020 1:30 pm Pigeons, thick, stupid, deaf pigeons.
Driving home after nights, the Magpies fly off the road as soon as they hear you, the blackbirds are the same, but what do the very many pigeons do?????? They just sit there until you are almost on top of them and deciding whether to avoid them or flatten them.
My journey home is all country lanes and a B road, hundreds of the things everywhere.
Not helped by being tired, old and needing a wee.

My wet is broken.
The water main burst this morning and almost the whole town is without water. Insignificant because I've been in London all day, irritating as I need to find a supermarket on the way home with some bottled water still in stock.

I've been cycling quite a bit recently, I get out 6 ish days a week, only about 12 miles but better than nothing.
As the weight hasn't fallen off in the way I hoped, today I went further than normal, it was hard work but I felt quite pleased with myself when I finally got home. Then I found out my Strava had switched off after .4 of a mile. So I don't have any stats for my ride

Neighbours.
I like all my neighbours (bar one, who's a cunt), but I did have pause to think the other day. The neighbour who's garden backs onto mine knocked the other week to tell me they were having a new fence and, knowing I had a dog, let me know the fence would be down, etc. Very considerate. Told her to tell the fellas they had full access if they needed to come into my garden to do what they needed to do, not a problem.
Fence goes up and a week later she knocks again and we start to chat about the fence, the weather, etc. She then shows me a picture of her new lawn and tells me that's what she want to talk to me about.
'We've noticed a few bamboo shoots coming our side of the fence, popping out of the lawn since we levelled the lawn".
When she showed me the photos, I noticed the level where gardens meet has gone up about a foot. No wonder the concrete gravel boards were so high! I apologised, said there wan't much I could really do, but I'd go my side of the fence and attack any miscreant tendrils with a spade as best I could. I advised her that she should do the same, just hack 'em off, I told her.
'Can't really', she replied, 'It might damage the irrigation system we've had installed under the lawn'.
So, let me get this right, you've built up the level of the ground with lovely, fertile soil, added an irrigation system in the middle of summer, and then wonder why your next door neighbour's plants decide it's better on your side of the fence?

Emmets usually just gently warm my piss, but the latest lot have managed to get superheated stem coming off it.
Message to visitors to Cornwall - DON'T arrive in a very range-limited electric car unless you have somewhere to charge it. In particular do NOT assume that you can pinch other people's parking slots 'because they are closer to the power point', nor that everyone is going to be happy about your dark coloured 50 metre extension lead trailing across an unlighted car park at night. And no, 2 cars does not entitle you to 2 parking spaces, the house you rented has one. I don't care if you aren't confident with parallel parking, get out on the road and practice!

When those that should know better cannot engage their brians...
“We need to do x to achieve y (which involves doing z as a part of the process to ensure x effectively achieves y).”
“I’ve done x for you / your client etc”
“Fab, oh by the way, you did include z as part of x didn’t you?”
“You didn’t specifically state z needed to be included even though I know x doesn’t achieve y without it...”
FFS, I now need to unravel x, hopefully at no cost to the client and reinstate it with z included in order to achieve what was clearly set out as the whole fucking point of the exercise...

Every news item broadcast anywhere is decided and controlled, by a variety of people:
Stringers & journalists, camera crews and photographers, and their bosses
Editors, whether for spoken word or visuals
Directors
Owners
'News' is often no more than 'Hey, we've got a sexy video clip'.
Just select the organisation which is biased the way you like to hear it.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I'm sure many of you wheeler dealers will already be aware of this scam , but just to air it once again for the less street wise..........My son in law was selling his motor last week and a guy asked for a viewing . Three fellas turn up and keep him busy asking questions . One asks to see the paperwork , and in the thirty seconds he's gone , pour oil into the cooling system . When the son in law returns they continue to look about the car and eventually one of them asks to look at all the fluids . Sure enough he kicks off about oil in the water and how the head gasket has gone and probably lots of other damage to engine ........ He then tries to pressurise son in law to sell the vehicle at a greatly reduced price .......
My son in law wouldn't sell and they went off rather angry . Be careful out there peeps !

Things that only give you one sticker. If I'm gonna stick it on my bike, it needs to be the same both sides.
It's only taken off since the other place closed downRSV4-Squid wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 2:42 am Christ, is this thread still going?
