V4 Streetfighter
Popped into Ducati today to see my mate (gaffer there) and he has a company V4 fighter, he reckons it's insane, like riding a two stroke in the way that it takes off at a certain rev point but he said it's also the smoothest bike he's ever ridden, and the best handling - and he's an international level SB racer.
He also said he can't get enough of them to satisfy demand, he's got a waiting list.
Reckons it's way better than the V4 race rep, he's not one to wax lyrical about a bike unless it's very good and he was clearly blown away by it. He offered me a go but I was in shorts and couldn't really be bothered, but I'll give it a go when I have a bit of free time.
I don't know if anyone has ridden one, but I don't think I've seen him that animated about a bike before so now I'm wondering just how good it is.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
I've certainly not ridden one, but it's going to be fantastic, of that there's no doubt.
But so will the V4 Aprilia and the 1290 KTM. But for me, they're all too much for the road. Just bonkers.
For me in your shoes, 800RC

Re: V4 Streetfighter
I was reading about 'em the other day. Basically a Panigale that doesn't break your wrists, so of course it's gonna be great.
£20k is a bit salty though! And 200bhp at the rear wheel would just be frustrating 99% of the time living in Southern England
Still want one, but not that badly. One of the 800cc ish bikes of the same nature would be plenty IMO.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
Headlight looks as though it's dropped off its mounts. And tail and backend look stupid.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
The melted headlight look seems to be quite popular these days...dunno if there's some new regs about height above the road or something.

I really like it. OK not 20 grand like it, but I do like it:p The high seat/low light look gives it a raked forward "eager" appearance IMO.

Eye of the beholder I suppose, but I can't find one nice thing about it and that exhaust!Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 4:11 pmI really like it. OK not 20 grand like it, but I do like it:p The high seat/low light look gives it a raked forward "eager" appearance IMO.

That's par for the course on a new bike these days. I've just developed exhaust blindness.

Lose the exhaust and it'll look lovely.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
He said he was out the other day with his bird on the back and he reckoned it made no difference. He was saying that normally a pillion ruins it a bit but it's the best handling bike in the world, even with a pillion.
I don't know if it's just me but I have some sort of disconnect at the moment between things in pictures and things in real life. In the pictures it looks rubbish, but I was stood next to the streetfighter and it looks really good, the headlight and the back end are the weakpoints (and the silly fins) but he had a tail tidy on and the rest wasn't noticeable so much when you were looking at it.
I guess they are kind of expensive, but their target audience are people that drop that sort of money without thinking about it, and there are no shortage of them, currently every container that comes in is sold before it hits the ground.
His last bike was the V4S race rep and he reckons the streetfighter is so much easier to ride, better power characteristics and so much nicer.
It's a long time since I've seen someone with so much enthusiasm for a new bike and if I hadn't lost my bike mojo I know I would have put my money down yesterday.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
The Dragster is a much better bike, I'd probably consider buying my old Dragster RC back.weeksy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 15, 2020 1:40 pm I've certainly not ridden one, but it's going to be fantastic, of that there's no doubt.

But they're a bit old now, I don't think MV have really done much with them other than change the paint and there are newer bikes coming out that do everything a bit better.
I reckon an 800cc Ducati naked would do well, if it had all the bells and whistles.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
20k seems like a lot for a bike, but these days it's all about "the monthlies". You can get a Panigale for £200pcm on the never never, so I reckon that's how most of these will be "sold". Not just people randomly dropping 20k.

In the UK I agree, everything is on the drip and everyone wants something that they can't afford, so I reckon most vehicles are on some sort of payment plan.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 8:20 am 20k seems like a lot for a bike, but these days it's all about "the monthlies". In other places it's fairly normal for people to walk in and drop big bucks on cars/bikes.

Re: V4 Streetfighter
One just has to go and see the kinds of cars / bikes in the shop windows in west London to see how true that is. There are a few I've seen where I think "who the fuck is gonna spank 30k on that" but clearly someone does

All the lads here (Enduro & road) paid cash for their nice bikes.Harry wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 3:18 pmIn the UK I agree, everything is on the drip and everyone wants something that they can't afford, so I reckon most vehicles are on some sort of payment plan.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 8:20 am 20k seems like a lot for a bike, but these days it's all about "the monthlies". Just realised I've spunked €30k on 4 new bikes since we've lived here

My pal Lee has bought 2 new V4s in last 18 months. Bob's buying one soon as well.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2020 3:35 pm You could have had a Ducati and the first year's servicing for that.
But I'd rather have my mix.
