I guess I'm signing off on this one. I've got used to the weight gain and power loss and the buffeting was solved by the screen change. So all in all, I'm very happy with the bike and its renewed my appreciation of an auto/dct transmission and I have no current desire to own a manual bike again. If it goes, it'll be because of my knee (or it gets nicked!) and nothing to do with the bike, but I'm really hoping I can continue to work around that as this bike has really won me over as it's very comfortable, easy to ride and economical, the perfect commuter for me!

I do indeed have an Adv. I am a shade under 6ft Tiepin and once I added crashbars had to lower the bike 30mm on lust racing dogbones. The seat is wide and at 820mm fairly tall crash bars make it harder as well.
For all your add ons spots heated grips sat nav fit a fuse box behind the RH panel with a relay tripped by the live to the lighter socket under the seat just use heavy guage wires from the battery to the relay and fuse box. Great bikes and in case you haven't found it there are three sport modes. Enjoy.
O and some pretend carbon fibre protection pads for the tunnel are are available
Worth it as you scuff the shit out of this area. You can get then for fuel tank and front section as well.

Yeah, they don't do private health care here. Just had a steroid injection in there, and the next port of call is surgery. Bigfoot thingy. It goes over the side stand plate and has a bigger surface area to help stop the stand sinking in.

How are you going with the ADV? I've been looking at a maxi scoot for commuting and generally titting about on. My boy is looking at a bmw c400 x or gt, so it would be rude not to get a scooter. May even do the long trip to Goodwood FOS if we get them!!
My main issue with the honda is that I only have short arse legs - 29" inseam, so reading up, they're quite tall, so I may not be able to put a foot down, which will be a bugger, as scooters go, I quite fancy the x-adv.

Dunno if you're still interested in crash bars but I've given Maccecht a nudge. One thing about the crash bars is they increase the width of an already wide bike on either side by a couple of inches - doesn't affect filtering but can make swinging your leg off a bit more of an issue if you have hips problems (like Maccecht does).
I'm a 29" inseam. I haven't been on one for over a year but I don't recall any problems with getting at least ball of foot on the floor. I have a 31/32 inside leg and because of the seat width and wideness of the footboard, I don't think I'm quite flatfooted when stationary? As Beancounter says, the footboards stick out so you have to drop your legs back to the thinner part, for want of a better description. A lot of people fit the lowering kit to counter this. I bought the bike thinking it was a lot smaller than it actually is!
As to how I'm getting on with it, yes, I really like it. I like its quirky looks and it handles my commute perfectly. I don't like spending this much money on a commuter hack, which is all it really is to me, but I have no plans to let it go as I like it so much!
I joined the FB page for these and there are a lot of people on them that have come from bigger bikes, such as a MT-09, plenty of BMW GSs and a few dropped down from Africa Twins too! So, there must be something good about them? Bear in mind its a slow revving, low powered bike (54bhp?) and is never going to set your biking world on fire, if you like performance and fast riding, but the majority of owners seem happy to see past that? A lot tour on them as well.

A colleague of mine who has loads of bikes, now only has his X-ADV, he's sold every one of his other bikes as they just weren’t getting any use, he took the X-ADV everywhere. He also does CBT/ DAS training on his days off and uses it for that as well.

I've been thinking about selling my RT to part fund an X-Adv.
