Must be something in the air. It's definitely spring when the Ducati's start to sing

Was tidying up in the garage today and decided to give the Monster a post winter warm-up. A few throttle twists (no choke on FCRs) and chugga chugga away she goes. Left it to warm up, then turned the fuel off to run the fuel out in the float bowls.

I just added up the costs for the getting to this stage at £858. I've kept receipts for everything but I'm sure I've forgotten a few things so lets call it £900.

The bike cost me £2,100 with the shagged frame so I'm in for £3,000. Not bad for a sorted 900ss with some tasty extras like Ohlins shock, Kehin flatside carbs & Micron pipes. And I have the all important original shock, carbs & pipes & also a thick file of receipts for service work.

Value now? Difficult to say but asking prices are around £5,000, so I'm happy with my spend.

I rode it yesterday for a 70 odd mile trip & it was all good. The engine felt strong & with the flatsides it feels more powerful than my Superlight. GP said it sounded better than our mate Paddys brand new V2 Panigale, I'll take that

The only niggles are the odd false neutral in the 'box - but they all do that mate - & the starting ritual from cold takes some learning as there are no chokes on these carbs.

I also need to improve the throttle cable routing & then tidy up the positioning of the switchgear on the right handlebar as the FCRs have two throttle cables & the assembly takes up a bit more space on the 'bar.

All in all I'm well pleased.

I'm late as usual but I rode the bike on Sunday and was really impressed with how well sorted it felt. The motor is really strong and the suspension felt great. It reminded me why I bought two of them!
As a road bike I find it more enjoyable than my 1200 Monster. There. I've said it.
