I didn't wipe the rain off the roof of my car this morning.
I then opened the roof and it dumped all the rain water into my lap.
I'm at work now and it looks like I've pissed myself.

You can sit in a pub, restraint, go to the football and not have one on so why is a supermarket different?
We have the same here, plus having to wear a mask on public transport - but the rationale is that if you are more 'at risk' you can avoid going to the pub, restaurant, football etc. You can choose where you go. But some more at risk people have no choice but to go to the shops for food, so the idea is that wearing a mask in the shops is a bit of 'thought' for others on that basis
It'll probably get ditched any minute though as most people don't seem to be bothering (although I've not been to the valley for three weeks, so no idea what it's like in shops down there!!)

I was told a couple days ago that it's all over here now, except hospitals ?? I was also told there's going to be an election soon. I sure these two things aren't connected !Noggin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:01 amFelix wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 4:21 pmNope she cant be hated even more. Its about time a different approach was made. Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
@ Trinity and Felix. In December last year, while having a couple of days in Antalya before flying over to UK, I had a blackout and face planted a tiled floor (spent too long in a sauna I think). Apart from a broken nose and split forehead I put both front teeth through my top lip and broke one front tooth. That really pissed me off because at 70, I still have 32 teeth (but 2 molars crowned) . The trip back to UK wasn't an issue as the required mask covered up a lot of the damage.
Anyway, back in Turkey in January I went to see the dentist that had done my crowns and asked her to make me handsome again. I was the first patient at her new premises and I was the first person for her to have a 3D printed crown - tbh it's almost a new tooth but I still have the root. If you didn't know it was a crown you would guess, it's an excellent job. It cost me £270.
I know lots of people who holiday in Turkey and get dental work done while they are there. Dentist are plentiful, good and relatively cheap. The woman I go to is in practice with her husband and her son is training as a dentist in Ankara. Not the cheapest locally but very good.

It's a glorious day here today and it's set fair for at least a week, but guess what?
Our wonderful council gritted the dry roads last night,so no bike fun for me for the next week or so.

Guardia Civil. Bunch of utter wankers.
We all love it here, but them cunts do their best to spoil it. We have a huge WhatsApp group to warn of their presence as they have a road block at least once a week somewhere on the island.
I was riding back from a meeting with the Iron-man film crew when they nabbed me at a road block.
I'm all legal. Or so I thought.
No reflector on reg plate. 100 euro fine. Wankers.
That's half my wages tmrw done

I'm supposed to be meeting my mates and their other halves at the pub at 19:30. My wife is nearly ready. The pub is a 10-15 minute cab ride away as well and I don't know how long we'll have to wait for an uber to turn up. Drives me up the fecking wall...

Only just back to work after COVID, lungs and throat still not right. Took the train to work last night and this morning went to get the train home. Oh no it's effing cancelled, the one morning I really need the trains to run right and a burst water main scuppers them. So it's a train to Seaford and then ride 9 miles home via the A259 via the Downs. I expelled about a kilo of lung butter ranging from yellow and green to red by the time I got home. Not a happy bunny.

Fucking wanky cyclists. They're hated over here coz they're so arrogant on the roads. Riding in big groups so other vehicles can't pass.
But today on the last lap of the Iron-man cycle race, said wankers decided to ride up the big climb. Mainly to show off to the tailenders in in the race. But also just getting in the way.
The roads were closed, but some cyclists slipped through.
Us lads on the bikes had a job to do and had to be aware of what's going on around us.
But them tossers were passing on both sides, creating havoc.
Some of the Spanish lads were overheard staging an accident
Well, it lightened the mood

Bought two new batteries and this was all the packaging in a big box. Easily broken and easily avoidable.

Hospitals (med centres etc, but seemingly not physios) and public transport for sure. I did read it was supermarkets as well, but I've not been to the valley to know if thats being done, and up here the spar and sherpa don't seem to be botheringJody wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:26 amI was told a couple days ago that it's all over here now, except hospitals ?? Pretty sure youa re right about the elections. The Swiss being complete dicks at the end Nov/early Dec was at the same time as their elections and was cancelled straight after!

I was out and about over here yesterday and mask wearing in shops had gone from 100% to <20% overnight, so the rule must have been lifted, obedience was pretty high up to that point.

Dementia BMP and upset us all yesterday. My M-i-L has it and it really showed the changes in her yesterday. She is normally one of the nicest, mild-mannered people you'll ever meet, but yesterday she was very argumentative and even raised her voice at a couple of people. F-i-L and my wife were both visibly shaken and upset by it. Doesn't bode well...

Yeah, I'm not sure about shops, cos it's a bit of a different world in resort. Like, last night I got the bus back from a friends place and stopped outside the bus to find and put on my mask and the driver told me not to bother. I mean, it's nice of him and all (and TBF, there was hardly anyone else on the bus) but I am 100% certain that the rules definitely say you have to wear a mask on public transport!!
I am hoping to go to the valley at some point soon, so will be interesting to see what the shops are like

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Hugs to you all. Dementia sucks big time. I have very little personal experience - my Grannie suffered badly but was in NI, so I didn't have much interaction. The last time I saw her she said "I've got a granddaughter that looks very similar to you", she stopped remembering who my Dad was. But, she had always been pretty 'forceful' and a bit lacking in empathy, so I'm not sure anyone would have been surprised if she was mean to people as a result of the dementiaTaipan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 8:51 am Dementia BMP and upset us all yesterday. But for someone to change as much as your MiL, that is so so tough

Sodding cars.
Drivers side window on the Eos started playing up on Saturday (day after it came back from a service at the local main VW dealer), so back in it went and they're going to take a look to figure out what's playing up. The driver's side window motor gets a lot of use because it has to 'dip' every time you open or shut the door, they're known for having issues.
First response from the service rep this morning was "If it's the motor, you can't get them any more... nothing much we can do if it's the motor...." (I don't think it's the motor itself, I think it's another part that has failed)
At least they were nice enough to loan us a car for free ("just replace the petrol you use").

Dementia is reputed to change people's personalities like that. My stepmother, for instance, became the sweetest little old lady you could ever hope to meet.Taipan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 21, 2022 8:51 am Dementia BMP and upset us all yesterday.
