MT time

Post by Pgm »

Well it all happened rather quickly but I now own an mt10 without having a test ride hope I like it?
I’ve had this itch for a very long time and finally I’m going to get to scratch it, I went to Laguna in Maidstone on Tuesday to try and get a test ride on their showroom mt10 but they where too busy to sort it out but said I’d be back later this week to get a go on it.
In the mean time early Thursday morning one comes up for sale on fb so I message him as I’m only 45 mins away and thought what the heck although it was at a price which had people posting it’s too good to be true and all the usual posts to go with it.
Originally he said he wouldn’t let it go until next month as he owes finance and wanted to make another payment, fair enough I’m in no rush but later on Thursday he messaged saying he’s spoken to the finance company and wants it gone the next day, ok not ideal but if I don’t go I might miss out.
Friday lunchtime drive down to Eastbourne to arrive with it sitting on his drive with a cover laying next to it so assume most of its life sat outside under a cover.
His story was he’s split up with his Mrs and was moving out and needed it gone, he’d had a walking pace off it on grass the swing arm has a few scratches but nothing really bad that can’t be sorted fairly easily and it needs a bloody good clean so I pay the money he settles finance while I’m there and we are good to go.
69 plate 6500 miles full service history 1 owner at a price that couldn’t be passed by.
Hopefully today I’ll get time to clean it and not find too much wrong.

Woot ! I rode a nardo grey and yellow wheel one of @Tricky and absolutely loved it. Got on with it instantly and right at home on it very quickly. I then rode the MT10SP of his at Pembrey too, which i didn't gel quite as much with, but i was trying to go faster i guess.

In any world, i'd love one in my garage. Congratulations !

Don't worry about not liking it. I also did a session on Tricky's MT10 at Pembrey, Great bike, felt lighter than its weight but was also really solid.

Enjoy :)

Superb darts. Loved the MT10 I rode. I'd like one, but can never seem to find a 'too good to pass' deal. Nice one.

Top choice sir- must admit the latest spam from MCN has got me thinking about whether it's time for another one, I really loved both of mine, such a fun and capable bike

I’ve taken a couple of pics but have no clue how to post here?
Spent some time giving it a clean and ordering mainly service parts and a couple of other bits, it’s been de catted with the stock can and seems stupid loud just on tick over so looking at exhaust options I don’t mind a bit of noise but it seems excessive to me.
Yeah I’m getting old.
I’ve not ridden it but can actually sit on it with both feet on the ground whereas I struggle doing that on my k-tech shod 790.

Some before and after the clean, I’ll have a proper go at it when things like chain and sprockets are changed.

Yup, the CP4s are offensively loud without the cat- Leo make a ( not particularly nice looking) mid pipe with a small silencer in it as an attempt to make it acceptable but TBH is doesn't do much.
The only aftermarket pipe that I've seen that does significantly silence was the Seton full system that Weeksy's mate Phil (he's on here, have forgotten his on-line username, think it may be @fil2 ?) had on his R1, it has the same approach as the Leo link pipe but a full length can, which these engines need to keep them quiet(ish) if they don't have the cat box- this one I think

Akra also do a full system for them, also uses a long can, is tucked up well and looks the nicest of the lot IMO, it's not that quiet still though- I kept the standard cat box on both mine.

I’m speaking to Phil seton this coming week to see what he’s got that’ll help, I can’t cope with it as it is lol

Looks like I’m going for the seton exhaust and have booked it in with him for ecu flash, end of may is the earliest slot.
