Hmmm can see how people get sucked into pcp. Popped into the KTM Centre and had a sit on a 1090. Not as big as I thought it'd be and will get a test ride. Told Jason I wasn't in a position to buy yet till I know what both Mrs and my job situations are, no worries you can have a 2 hour test ride when you're ready. Perfect.

Have a mooch at the t shirts and have a coffee when Jason pipes up "If you wanted that low mileage 1090 I can do it 3 year PCP for 28 quid a month"

No it isn't. PCP isn't really my cup of tea and this deal is paying the minimum which I wouldnt want to do. By yes it makes things seriously tempting

Yeah that would be the cheapest PCP so paying nothing but the interest with 4k odd to pay in 3 years or trade up. I'd rather wait till I know jobs are secured and throw a decent amount in each month and pay the loan on the bike off.

Plus I've not ridden it or the cheaper Tracer 900 yet. So my preference is to wait till next year at least. But its tempting as I need new tyres and a valve service on the 690 which is gonna be 600 quid i reckon.

Without this covid bollocks I'd have probably chucked in 150-180 a month and signed up. But thinking with my head for the moment

spent the morning with Mofo today, firstly fitting heated grips to his bike for him, simple enough job and i know 690s pretty well now so didn't take long at all.

We then took a ride so i could give him a go on the XSR900, i'm sure he'll post something on that later.

Riding the 690 was, well, quite weird, it's funny how quickly you get used to riding something else. But it was exactly as you'd expect, but i think his rear tyre may be banjaxed as it was quite disjointed over ridges and tracks in the roads. But i really enjoyed it... I did miss the power though. Even compared to the 18 690 etc, they have more grunt in them that's for sure. Which i didn't think was that apparent, but it seems so.

Seat is super comfy and it soaks up bumps beautifully...

Yup. Left home at about 10 to 8 and went non motorway route to Weeksy's. Was a nice ride and the sat navs speed camera warnings were handy on the unfamiliar roads.

Weeksy made short work of the grips and they work a treat. When I tested them in the garage with a cold beer

Will post my XSR thoughts on Weeksy's thread, but he is quite correct my rear tyre is bollocksed. Hoping for new Michelin 5s next week. I've soldiered on for too long with the 4s.

Finally ordered my new tyres. Been meaning to since I went to Weeksy's, but since then not ridden mainly as I can't see properly Anyway ordered up a set of PR5's. PR4's were only coming in at about 25 quid cheaper so went with the 5. I loved the 4s so hopefully the 5 will be even better. Hoping they'll be done Fri for a ride I've got on Sunday, looks like my brother and his mates are going to the cafe in Walton Sunday afternoon so will probably join them.

I did think about going for something cheap and cheerful in case I swap for an XSR/Tracer next year, but sod it I might not so might as well have decent boots. And after this and a valve check soon I might keep the Duke a while longer anyway.

Bugger me it was hot work watching them being fitted though. Made me think twice about the ride on Sunday. I like summer mornings but 30c rides are a bit uncomfortable. Might go out early doors on my own instead.

Seems I get 30 quid cash back or a tyre pressure monitoring system for ordering a pair of michelins as well

Went out this morning to the tea hut at High Beech, not been in years and only 30 mins via the nice route there. Bugger me the bike felt twitchy esp the front which is funny as the rear of the old tyre had flat spotted whereas the front was still pretty round so expected to notice the rear more. Fair few bikes there inc a rather nice Guzzi I posted in the interesting bikes thread. Was nice to ride again as I haven't been able to due to an eye problem.

I also moved the Tutoro to position number 3 (last night) and number 4 after todays ride.

Last night i moved it from above the front sprocket where it was making a bit of a mess and leaking out the bottom to under the swingarm slider. I primed the system again to see where it would drip and then turned it right down again before setting off but priming it must have dumped a load out short term and there was a fair amount of lube about. The position seemed to work and the lubing action was better being on the inside run but by the time i got home the nozzle moved to the far inside of the chain run which being nearer the tyre isn't something I like.

So I moved the tube to the other side of the chain slider, which means there is a risk the tube might get caught by the chain. But I'll go for a short ride tomorrow and check. It doesnt look like the slider gets hit by the chain and this pic is with me having a good bounce on the bike. If this works it'll be ideal as the oil spreads nicely from here. I had a cable tie here today and the chain didn't touch it to look at.

Can you get it to drop nearer sprocket where chain carnt lash.?

Not with the amount of tube I cut I do have some off cut I should see how much. Or just order more tube!

Ideally id have put it on the rear sprocket but fluck having a swingarm covered in cable ties

If this doesn't work I'll get some more tube and run it into the front sprocket cover but on the exit run

So position 4 didn't work. Pipe was OK but cable tie did catch as it had moved. No damage to either but needs moving. Lashed it up for the rest of my ride.

Was supposed to join my brothers mates to Walton but weren't leaving till 11.30 so decided it'd be too hot for me. So I went on a 100 mile loop at 9am and scrubbed my tyres in
